Whitman Alpha Phi

Whitman Alpha Phi Beta Phi chapter of Alpha Phi at Whitman College. Alpha Phi was founded in 1872 at Syracuse University by 10 of the university's first women students.

Our founders aspired to promote growth in character, unity of feeling, sisterly affection, and social communication among members. Our national philanthropy is the Alpha Phi Foundation, which has a mission to empower women to be generous givers by raising and awarding funds for programs that advance leadership development, encourage academic excellence, improve women's heart health, support sisters in need, preserve heritage, and educate about the value of philanthropy.

Back at it with the Instagram takeovers! ☀️

Hey guys! My name is Lyla, and I’ll be taking over the Alpha Phi Instagram for the next couple of days. I’m a rising junior at Whitman studying BBMB and Dance. Here’s some more fun facts about me:

- I’m originally from Aurora, Colorado!
- I worked as a medical assistant in an ear clinic this summer—shoutout Rocky Mountain Ear Center!
- Outside of A-Phi, I am the Communications Officer for Whitman College First Responders and a leader for Z-Fit and Tap Dance Club.
- I have three cats named Eden, Winter, and Spike!

I’ll be taking you through my final week of summer here at home—get ready for some fun adventures! ✈️🏔️🌻

Today and every day, we celebrate the incredible cultures, traditions, and voices that make our sisterhood so special. We are proud to honor and uplift our AAPI sisters and all those who continue to inspire us.

From celebrating family traditions and cultural pride to finding community and reconnecting with heritage, AAPI Heritage Month means something unique to each of our sisters. Here are some words about her future endeavors post-grad and experience in Alpha Phi:
“After graduation I will be getting my masters in speech and language pathology with the hopes of becoming a pediatric specialist! Alpha Phi has changed my life in so many ways from leadership to making life long connections. I am so grateful to have seen the growth of SFL life over the years and I will be forever grateful for this experience! AOE ❤️”

Study Abroad Spotlight with Ella! ☀️🌈❤️

“Kia Ora from Dunedin!! My semester in New Zealand has gone by so fast, and I cant believe I only have a month left! Ive met so many amazing lifelong friends and made memories across the South Island that I’ll never forget. My favorite parts have been living the kiwi lifestyle, exploring the Southern Alps (including skydiving over them!), hiking through incredible landscapes, seeing turquoise lakes and glaciers, and even surfing alongside sea lions! While I dont want this experience to end, I’m so excited to return to the Whitman community and be reunited with everyone! 💘”

We miss you so much and can’t wait to see you again!!
