Walker Talker, Jace Ungerecht, won the button design contest for this year’s Walker on the 4th celebration on Independence Day! We love that our speakers are ones of many different talents. Thank you for your art, Jace!!!!

🎉 Congratulations to Jace Ungerecht! 🇺🇸

A big shoutout to Jace Ungerecht, the winner of the 2026 Walker Lions Fourth of July Button Design Contest!

Jace’s design was selected for this year’s commemorative button, celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary of Independence. What an incredible honor and a fantastic representation of this historic milestone.

The Walker Lions are currently selling the commemorative buttons for $5 each, and they are going fast! Not only are they a great keepsake, but proceeds help support our community’s Fourth of July festivities and Walker Bay Live events.

Be sure to grab your button, congratulate Jace, and get ready for an unforgettable 4th of July celebration in Walker! 🇺🇸🎆

🎙️…and with that, we close out the Walker Talker speech season after one of the biggest roller coasters that a tournament can have. We are walking away with so much more experience and knowledge, as well as pride to be in such an incredible activity.
—
🫶We want to thank ALL who supported our journey with a critique, a donation, a comment of encouragement, and for sharing our season’s story. We couldn’t have made a trip like this happen without everyone else in our Minnesota corner.
—
🩵SHOUT OUT to ALL Minnesota teams who participated in this tournament. We are beyond proud to be included in the MN team of speakers who can’t help but make waves with words.

🙌SEE YOU NEXT SEASON!

👏Today, we celebrate the extraordinary speech career of senior, Elijah Cox!
—
👉This student started his 7th grade year performing a selection from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to a screen. He stuck with it. He didn’t allow an obstacle like COVID limit his passion for performing.
—
😎Now, he walks away from this incredibly exhilarating and humbling activity with 3 state medals, 2 trips to nationals, and finishing in the top 30 in out of over 250 of the best dramatic speakers in the country.
—
🫶While hardware is nice, whenever you ask Elijah about his experience, he will talk about the skills he’s gained and the people he’s met. One of the things Elijah is known best for is his ability to build others up while doing what he loves. Whether you saw Elijah in or in between your rounds, he either made you smile or feel like there’s nothing you can’t do in this world.
—
🤝We thank you, Elijah, for being a leader on this team, setting the example we want all speakers to emulate, and for representing our state with grace and pride. You will be missed and never forgotten. Your legacy lives on with the many Walker Talkers before you.

🥹STAY GOLDEN, PONYBOY!
