Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County Five locations serving Garrett County in Western MD, offering a sense of community and opportunity. Branch locations, in addition to Oakland: Accident, 106 S.

Located in the scenic mountains of Western Maryland, the Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County serves this rural community with print, non-print, and electronic resources. In all five branches of the library system, patrons will find helpful staff and access to a wide array of books, online resources, DVDs, and programs. 📣We are currently hiring a Library Assistant at our BRAND NEW Friendsville Library through the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation's Maryland Corps/Service Year Option program!

The Maryland Corps/Service Year Option is a 9-month program that connects primarily young adults ages 18–24 with meaningful paid jobs serving in their communities (at host sites like the Ruth Enlow Library!) while providing training, support, and a $6,000 completion award.

📅Service term: November 2026 - August 2027.

We are very excited to announce that we have partnered with the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation's Maryland Corps/Service Year Option program to hire a Library Assistant at our new Friendsville Library!

ABOUT THE ROLE:
THE LIBRARY ASSISTANT at the Friendsville branch of the Ruth Enlow Library will directly assist patrons with circulation of materials and with reference questions, including computer assistance. They will also be involved with planning Library community events. Typical projects might include participating in a book club, assisting a patron with accessing government services, helping children find materials for school assignments, and much more.

ABOUT MARYLAND CORPS/SERVICE YEAR OPTION PROGRAM:
- Applicants must be 18-24 years old
- Earn $15+/hour + $6,000 completion award upon completion of service program (9 months)
- Full time paid jobs with training and mentorship
- Gain professional experience with support
- No experience required!
