Have you heard of our Buddy Program? A high school student is matched up with an elementary or middle school student to create high school readiness!

Today we are highlighting a Panther Buddy, Braylon Pritchett. Braylon is a Sophomore at Ridgeland High School. Braylon plays football, runs track and field, is in BETA Club, and is an FCA Leader. Braylon’s favorite part about being a panther buddy is that he enjoys being a role model. He is a super social person and anytime he can hangout or helpout, he is always up to making an impact.

Today we are highlighting our Rambler Buddy, Laney Rayburn! Laney is a Senior at Lafayette High School. Laney is the goalkeeper for the soccer team. She is the Senior Class President! She is also in the Beta club, FCA, Pep club, Juniorettes, Junior City Council, and National Honors Society. Laney’s favorite part about being a Rambler buddy is having the opportunity to be a mentor to kids and give them a chance to be heard. She tries her best to give her buddies the best possible advice. She loves to see it when they listen and their grades or their behavior show it!

Today we are highlighting our Rambler Buddy, Su’Andra Williams, aka SUKI!! Suki is a Junior at Lafayette High School. Suki is a varsity softball, basketball, and track and field athlete! She is in SGA, BETA, Scholars Program, and of course, Rambler Buddies! Suki’s favorite part about being a Rambler buddy is not the impact she gets to make on her buddies life, but the impact they have made on hers! Going into Rambler Buddies she wasn't sure how she was going to handle it mentally, but her buddies have pushed her to better herself in every way. She will always be grateful for the chance to work with her buddies.

Today we are highlighting a Panther Buddy, Madison Lennon. Madison is a senior at Ridgeland High School. Madison is in HOSA, FCCLA, NHS, and is the historian for BETA club. She also plays volleyball, basketball, and runs track. Madison is a captain for the Lady Panther Basketball team. All while completing dual enrollment classes. Madison’s favorite part about being a panther buddy is being able to help someone else look forward to high school and share my memories and moments.

What is it?
Walker County School Mentors is a mentorship program in
Walker County in which community volunteers
spend one hour a week with a student in our
school system.

Who?
You! Anyone in the community can complete
an application and submit it to a Mission
Support Specialist Abby Bates

Where?
You will choose which campus you would like
to visit to mentor a student. All meetings will
take place on the school campus during school
hours.

When?
One hour a week: The Mission Support Specialist will contact you to
give you detailed information about your
student’s schedule.

Requirements:
• Walker County Mentorship Application
• Interview with Mission Support Specialist
• Background Check ($5)
• Training Session

Today we are highlighting our Rambler Buddy, Grant Langford! Grant is a senior at Lafayette High School. Grant is involved in a couple clubs at LHS including Beta Club, he is also the president of the Pep Club. This will also be his 4th year as a member of the golf team. Grant’s favorite part about being a Rambler Buddy is feeling like he is a helping hand in somebody’s life and getting the student on a good track for life.
