🌊 Learning the Barnhart Way! 💙🐦

This week, our Blue Jays rotated through different stations around the school to learn and practice our school-wide expectations in the cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms, playground, and on the bus!

It is important that all of our students hear the same clear and consistent expectations from every adult in our building so everyone knows what being safe, respectful, and responsible looks like throughout the school day.

Every student will participate in these expectation stations this week, and we’re making it fun along the way! Practicing these routines now helps create a school where everyone can learn, grow, and feel successful.

Ready to make a difference in our Blue Jay community? Join us for Volunteer Orientation on **Wednesday, September 9, 2026**!

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or dedicated community member, your support helps our students soar. We have two session times available (you only need to attend one!):

* **Morning Session:** 8:00 AM
* **Evening Session:** 5:00 PM

**Ways you can get involved:**

* Field trip chaperones
* Lunch & recess support
* Library helpers
* Special event volunteers

Parent and community involvement directly boosts student achievement and creates a positive school environment. We can’t wait to partner with you this school year!

CCPS families are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day at the ballpark with FREE Southern Maryland Blue Crabs tickets on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm.

This family-friendly event includes exciting activities throughout the day:

Welcome Back, Blue Jays! 🐦💙

We can’t wait to open our doors at 8:45 a.m. and welcome back our Blue Jays! We ask all families to please follow the arrival and dismissal procedures outlined in the Community Newsletter: https://tr.ee/6vUIUQQnAe

A few important reminders:

* Students should not be dropped off and left unattended before 8:45 a.m.
* Students should be seated in their classrooms by 9:00 a.m. Students arriving after 9:00 a.m. will be considered late.

We encourage parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings, and anyone else who is able to join us to arrive by 8:40 a.m. and help us create a welcoming tunnel for our students as they enter the building! 🥳

For this first morning only, families may park in the bus parking lanes if no other parking is available.

We are so excited to cheer for our Blue Jays, give high fives, offer handshakes and hugs, and wish every student a wonderful first day and an amazing start to the school year! 💙🐦

Each year, we are so grateful to partner with Caring for Classrooms for our fundraising and gift card purchases—and today our teachers got to see that support in action!

We filled teacher mailboxes with sensory items, classroom activities, and other resources that will help support our Blue Jays throughout the school year.

Every purchase makes a difference, and every dollar of support finds its way right back into our classrooms. Thank you to everyone who supports our Caring for Classrooms fundraisers and helps us continue providing our teachers and students with the tools they need.

Transportation Information
This year, we are asking families to complete a Digital Transportation Form for each child. This form will help our staff know how your child will travel to and from school each day, including whether they are a:

Car rider
Daycare van rider
Bus rider
Attending AlphaBEST
Walker

Each child must have one primary method of transportation home, and your child will be sent home that way every day unless the main office receives an email requesting a change.
Transportation changes should be made only when absolutely necessary or in the case of an emergency. Frequent changes make it difficult for staff to ensure that every child is safely sent to the correct location. We do not accept transportation changes by phone. Because teachers may not be able to check email before dismissal, all transportation change requests must be emailed directly to the main office before 3:00 p.m.
A completed transportation form must be on file for every student no later than Friday, August 21, 2026.
