DOWNTOWN PAVING ALERT & PARKING BAN

Beginning on Friday August 21st there will be MDOT paving work on West Main Street, Main Street, and Jefferson Street. This work will continue on Monday, August 24th thru Wednesday, August 26th. DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD AS PAVING IS CURB TO CURB.

Yes, we know this post is a little early, but we wanted folks to be able to make alternate parking arrangements. Be prepared for some traffic delays. This is a Maine Department of Transportation paving project, the contractor is Hagar Enterprises.

I’m writing to share a update and provide some clarity regarding a political flyer recently sent out by a candidate for State Representative. We have received several questions and concerns from the community, so I wanted to make sure everyone has the correct information.

The Town of Waldoboro and the Waldoboro Fire Department do not endorse any candidates for political office.

The candidate is not a member of the Waldoboro Fire Department and is not employed by the Town. He does not serve in any elected or appointed capacity within our municipal government.

We appreciate your engagement and for reaching out to us with your questions.

WALDOBORO RESIDENTS are invited to pick blueberries at Quarry Hill beginning Saturday, July 25th. This is not a commercial harvest, but open to the residents of Waldoboro. RAKING IS NOT PERMITTED AND YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN CONTAINERS. PLEASE IF YOU CARRY IN, CARRY OUT YOUR TRASH. Please do not block the road or the driveways to residences.

The blueberry fields on the 320-acre, town-owned, Quarry Hill property are a hidden gem in Waldoboro. This area provides opportunities for low-impact recreation, protection of wildlife habitat, and maintains the property’s scenic beauty, while being productive farmland. The property has been permanently protected with a conservation easement that is held by Midcoast Conservancy.

We do have quart berry baskets here at the Town Office if you need one.

For questions about the Quarry Hill property or the blueberry harvest please contact the Town of Waldoboro at 832-5369 ext. 6.

Mill Street Closure July 20th - September 21st. Notice from the MDOT.

The Maine Department of Transportation is currently preparing for maintenance work on bridge number 5427, that
carries Mill Street over the Medomak River in Waldoboro. The work entails removing the bridge joints, abutment
repair, bridge deck repair, placement and curing of concrete. For some of work described the bridge will be closed
to traffic for crews to perform the work safely and efficiently.

followed by a detour sign package while bridge is closed.

Local access to homes and businesses near the
construction area will be maintained where possible, but through traffic should expect to be diverted.

The purpose of this letter is to make the necessary notifications of the project to abutters, municipal officials and
occupants of the highway under the provisions of 23 M.R.S.A. § 3351.
