Woodville School PTO

Woodville School PTO The Woodville PTO supports teachers & students at the Woodville Elementary School in Wakefield, MA.

The Woodville School PTO provides enrichment programs, special events, materials and supplies necessary to support quality education for our students. We are able to provide such programs and materials as a result of various fund-raising efforts. The Woodville School PTO page was established to help foster communication within the Woodville community. The PTO already helps to keep parents

informed through the Woodville News and "bullet point" E-mails. The page gives people another way to stay informed of school and PTO events, fund-raisers, and other things going on at the Woodville School. The PTO's page also provides parents with a way to engage with one another and stay connected.

🎉 What a fun Friday at Woodville! We kicked off the day with an awesome assembly featuring youth motivational speaker and world champion athlete Chris Poulos. His crazy BMX bike stunts had us on the edge of our seats, but it was his messages about character, kindness, and anti-bullying values that really hit home for our students.🚴‍♂️

Then it was time to celebrate a major milestone. To reward our students for their record-breaking Read-A-Thon, the whole school enjoyed a pizza, cookie and dance party!🍕🍪🎶 Seeing our readers’ hard work turn into such a fun school celebration was the best way to end our week.

We hope everyone has a wonderful spring weekend! Wishing a very Happy Easter and a Happy Passover to all of our families who celebrate. 🐣✨ 🌷

🥅🐻 We are thrilled to share that Woodville won the BFit to Win It contest!

Our students had the best time at yesterday’s assembly learning about healthy lifestyles, staying active, and safety with Strength Coach John Whitesides and Bruins legend Andrew Raycroft. We were also joined by the Wakefield fire department, and a special appearance by Blades made for some epic shoot-outs with our students and staff! 🏒

Beyond the fun, Woodville received a $10,000 health and wellness donation. This includes over $3,000 in brand-new sports equipment for our gym and classrooms, plus nearly $7,000 for future wellness initiatives!

A huge thank you to the Bruins Foundation, and for this amazing opportunity. 📸

P.S. Sorry for all the boooo’s, Mr. Carter - that’s what happens when you put on a Canadiens jersey in a room full of Bruins fans!😂

✨ The Magic of Reading cast quite a spell at our Read-A-Thon! Students read a combined 367,986 minutes and broke fundraising records by raising an incredible $38,729! 🎉

Today we celebrated our Top Readers & Fundraisers with trophies 🏆

Because of this amazing (and magical!) effort, every student will receive an unlimited 6️⃣0️⃣ minute game card from In The Game!!

Thank you to our wonderful Woodville community for making this year's Read-A-Thon a magical success! 🪄📚

🍁 A very sweet morning for our 2nd graders!

Last week, our students had an amazing hands-on experience learning all about tree tapping. They got to see (and smell) the process of turning sap into delicious maple syrup, and the best part - they got to taste it, too!

A huge thank you for Woodville parent Jess Narog-Hutton and the Department of Conservation & Recreation for making this sweet field trip possible!

Fueling our favorite educators!☕️🍎

Did you know that the PTO funds snacks, coffee, and even full lunches for our teachers during long days like Parent-Teacher Conferences?

Every time you participate in a fundraiser - like the Read-A-Thon or Half-Day Hangouts - you’re helping us fund these “thank yous” for our awesome staff. They work so hard and we love being able to provide a little pick-me-up to show our gratitude!🐾

Local author/illustrator, Sarah Lynne Reul, visited us on Friday to share her new book, Beansprout 🌱📚 She inspired us with her story of becoming an author and we celebrated by dressing up as our favorite book characters! 🎭✨📖

Over the last two days, our 3rd and 4th graders enjoyed inspiring writing workshops with storyteller, Alicia Quintano! ✍️📚

4️⃣th graders took part in “99.9% True,” a storytelling/memoir workshop where they used brainstorming and outlining to tap their memories (and imaginations) and turn their own experiences into short, memorable stories.

3️⃣rd graders worked in teams of two to create short, imaginative “How and Why” fables about how things came to look and be the way they are.

So much creativity and storytelling magic in our classrooms! ✨📝

Our 2nd grade students enjoyed in-class illustration workshops yesterday with Marietta Apollonio: Writer/Illustrator 🎨📚

She talked about her illustration process, shared some of her original drawings, and even got the students drawing - an inspiring experience for our young artists and readers! ✏️✨

The magic continues! ✨🪄

Yesterday, students took part in a school-wide Book Swap, bringing in books to trade in for new stories to enjoy. 📚🔁

Today, we launched our new school-wide Story Chain where each classroom added a sentence to a fun, collaborative tale that grew as it traveled from room to room. 📝➡️➡️➡️📖

We had an amazing visit today from author, Larry Daley, who shared his new book, FLOAT! 📖🐠

He talked about being a children’s author and illustrator, where his ideas come from and how mistakes help you grow if you keep trying.

The highlight was meeting his stuffed shark, Squiggles, and getting to give it a pet on the way out. And we have to say… we especially loved his shark slippers! 🦈💙
