One of the many reasons that home birth in RI is a safe option is the amazing support that we as a community have received by medical personnel who work in the hospital system. One place that stands out in this regard is Memorial Hospital of RI Birthing Center. The RI Home Birth & Hope Family Health midwives practice there- and midwives have been supported by the respectful care that the unit provides when home birth must transfer to the hospital. WE ARE ABOUT TO LOSE THIS UNIT! Care New England Bought the hospital several years ago and swore they would keep it open- but we have received solid information that their board is about to vote for closure of unit and consolidation into Women & Infants and Kent. We cannot go "Quietly into that good night" So do this ALL OF YOU ARE NEEDED!
