It has been a very busy month here at Golden Rule! So far we have celebrated St. Patricks Day, where we attempted to capture Lucky the Leprechaun to no avail and colored eggs for Easter! We have learned about the letters, L, M, N, O and P. We have learned about plants and their roots, we learned about the ocean and we learned what happens when it finally turns from winter into spring! We are coming up to the end of the school year. It is approaching much faster than we would like but there is still LOTS of learning on the horizon!!!!

This week was super fun at Golden Rule Preschool! We had so much fun playing with snow in the sensory tablelast week that we decided to play with it again, only this time we did something a bit different! We decided to paint it with watercolors! We made a snow man and a snow princess and dressed them both up with colors! We reviewed the letter D by finding pictures in magazines that start with D, cut them out and glued them on to a piece of paper. We explored our potatoes with magnifying glasses. We didn't notice much change so we decided to cut one of them in half and place it in a shallow dish with some water and we put the other one in a plastic bag. We will let you know next week if we see any additional changes! We learned about the letter G this week. We learned the letter G makes not only one but two sounds!! We came up with words that start with G such as, 'giraffe', 'gum', 'great', 'goofy' and 'game'. We practiced spelling out our names by building snowmen with the letters in our names. We also painted snowmen using a mixture of glue and shaving cream. When it dries it turns into puffy paint! We worked very diligently on our journals, played Candy Land, did puzzles and built towers with geometric blocks! Have a great weekend!!

Even though this week was a short week with Monday being a holiday we sure accomplished quite a bit! In the sensory table we were able to bring winter into the classroom by putting snow in the table. We then decided to add some food coloring to it, which turned it all sorts of cool colors! For science we explored our potatoes....One is growing some stems out of it while the other still has not grown anything, we checked both potatoes out with the magnifying glasses. We made stained glass winter hats to hang on our windows and decorated snowflakes with glitter and glue. The children decorated their homework folders they will be taking home every Wednesday. They are super excited about bringing them home! The homework each week will be to trace the letter of the week. The older children (4 and 5 year olds) will receive a piece of lined paper so they can practice writing the letters independently. The children also worked in their journals. The letter of the week was 'F'. We learned the sound the letter 'F' makes and came up with a long list of words that begin with 'F'. Check out our pictures below to see all of the fun we had!
