Life skills is imperative for our students success. Whether they decide college after high school, a trade or start their own business, having hands-on skills prepares them for life and teaches them about resiliency. These are valuable and wonderful gifts to leave our children with.

I would love to see this in every school.

Friendly safety reminder as all schools are back in full swing for the new school year. When you are driving on road with buses please be mindful of the traffic safety rules.

N. C. School Bus Stop Law - “you must stop for a school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, which means you must bring your vehicle to a full stop and remain stopped until the lights turn off, the arm retracts, and the bus moves again.

Passing a stopped school bus is a serious offense with potential penalties including a large fine, points on your license, increased insurance costs, and even license revocation.”

🇺🇸 HAPPY FLAG DAY AMERICA! 🇺🇸

Flag Day, celebrated annually on June 14, is a national observance in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the American flag by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. It is a day to honor and show respect for the U.S. flag and what it represents. This day also honors the principles of freedom, unity, and patriotism.

The thirteen stripes, resting side by side, represented the struggle for independence; red stood for valor, white signified purity and blue represented loyalty.

While not a federal holiday, Flag Day is a state holiday in Pennsylvania. President Wilson officially proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day in 1916, and President Truman signed legislation to make it a national observance in 1949.

Class of 2025 Heritage Huskies!

Many awards, recognitions, and scholarships were awarded to our seniors today. So many accomplishments and exciting things heading their way as they venture to start their new journey.

Some of our students were recognized by the Marines, Army and ROTC. One of our students was accepted into WestPoint, a significant honor earned by a nomination, usually from a member of Congress.

Some will head to their college of choice, and some directly into the workforce.

Wishing our seniors the best of luck in whatever comes their way.

GO HUSKIES!

Heritage High School Seniors were invited to revisit their elementary schools to join in the 5th Grade Clap Out celebration. Here they are at Heritage Elementary School reminiscing the halls and visiting their teachers and old classrooms. The gym, and cafeteria felt so small and they had a blast seeing their art projects as a permanently imprint in the school walls and ceilings.

Thank you HES, Heritage Elementary School PTA - HES for such a great experience. I think the teachers enjoyed seeing their students all grown, almost as much as the seniors.

Best of luck to all the Class of 2025!

(p.s. Note the birds on the wall, not all of them are shown, but a local artist came in to help the elementary students recycle tons of donated fabrics and hangers into art. They weaved the fabrics into giant leaves and birds of all colors, displayed in the school as art - beautiful)

As we take a moment of rest this weekend and honor our servicemen and woman that sacrifice so much, along with their families, let us remember how Memorial Day celebrations came to be.

This post reminds us why this day is so important to honor and remember.

God Bless all of those that served our country!

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

“That Nation which respects and honors its dead, shall ever be respected and honored itself.”
– Brevet Lieut.-Col. Edmund B. Whitman, 1868

Memorial Day, a federal holiday held the last Monday in May, is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women.
Originally called Decoration Day, it was formalized by a "Memorial Day Order" issued by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan in 1868.

The modern proclamation calls on Americans “to observe Memorial Day by praying, according to their individual religious faith, for permanent peace.”

36 U.S. Code § 116 - Memorial Day

(a)Designation.—
The last Monday in May is Memorial Day.

(b)Proclamation.—The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation—
(1)
calling on the people of the United States to observe Memorial Day by praying, according to their individual religious faith, for permanent peace;
(2)
designating a period of time on Memorial Day during which the people may unite in prayer for a permanent peace;
(3)
calling on the people of the United States to unite in prayer at that time; and
(4)
calling on the media to join in observing Memorial Day and the period of prayer.

It was a bittersweet moment to celebrate the retirement of Dr. Mark Savage, our Area Superintendent for District 1. Families and staff gathered in a huge crowd to see him off.

Many people loved Dr. Savage as the awesome Principal that started up Heritage High School. For many years we have enjoyed him as our Area Sup. representing our schools here in District 1. He has such a positive work ethic, wholeheartedly loves our schools and will be truly missed, but never forgotten.

We wish him well as he begins this new chapter!

Best wishes, Dr. Savage!
