Our Kona faculty kicked off the new school year with a double dose of fun by tackling an epic scavenger hunt and hitting the ocean for some outrigger canoe paddling.

Our staff are coming together across the state this week to get everything in gear for the new school year — staff have orientations and icebreakers, too! Our Waipahu and Distance Learning teams enjoyed a fun game of HTA Jeopardy and shared some big ideas. We’re re-energized and can’t wait to welcome you all back.

HTA Līhu‘e’s Xavier P. made the news today for his heroic rescue of an endangered seabird. Kaua‘i Now News tells how he spotted the waterlogged koa‘e kea struggling offshore at Kawailoa Bay Beach. Xavier swam out to save the bird and carried it safely back to shore in his hat. The white-tailed tropicbird is now recovering and gaining strength under the professional care of Save Our Shearwaters We are so proud of Xavier for using his instincts and aloha to protect our native Hawaiian wildlife.
