The Waipahu High School Engineers Club, which is also known as the Waipahu High School Robotics team, consists of various students ranging from 9th- 12th grade. We currently participate in 4 different kinds of robotics competitions: Micro-Robots (the 2010 season is our first time participating in order to give students a chance to work on every system of a robot independently because of the small scale), VEX (a slightly larger robot that is worked on by a team consisting of at least 4 people), FRC/First Robotics Competition (a large scale robot with height limit of 5Ft. This competition challenges us to work within a time 6 weeks to complete, test, practice with, and improve our robot.). So far our teams had very good chemistry with each other and we welcome any one who is interested in our program and a committed member. FIRST Team 2477, or Rascal Robotics, is the main branch of Waipahu High School's Engineers Club. We in have fostered several partnerships such as our partnership with Hawaii Tech Academy, and Sparwars Systems. We have strengthened the schools partnership with several engineers who become mentors to not only the robotics team, but also our seniors who are pursuing careers in the Industrial and Engineering Technology Pathway. FIRST Team 2477, The Rascals, and promotes a fun educational experience for those interested in science and technology. We are a group of future innovators that come together with a common goal: To invest in our future and to gain the experience needed to “Do the math and save the world” when our time comes to step up to the plate and help. Our team builds more than a robot, our team builds a FIRST Robot that signifies the long lasting bonds we’ve built, our experiences as a team, the hardships we’ve overcome, and most importantly our FIRST Robot signifies our robotics family.
