GUM Waipahu The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus is a proud partner of GEAR UP. Funded by the U.S.

Department of Education, GEAR UP aims to significantly increase the number of low-income students pursuing and succeeding in higher education. The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus is a proud partner of GEAR UP, which stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. Department of Education, the program aims to significantly increase the number of low-income students pursuing and succeeding in higher education, including the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa — the flagship campus within the 10-campus UH system. But really GEAR UP is determined to foster awareness and readiness for ALL post-secondary pathways which include college, trade/vocational programs, military, certifications, and more. Our grant objectives are:
- High School Completion
- Support and Education for Students and Parents
- Creating a "College-Going" Culture.

Hey GUM family & friends! As the school year is coming to an end, the GEAR UP team wants to congratulate you on passing your first year of high school. We will be holding a freshman celebration drive-through on Friday, May 7 from 5 pm to 7pm at Waipahu High School.
