Prince Dance Institute Teaching excellence in the performing arts and providing a place for arts appreciation, connection and education in the community.

Prince Dance Institute had its humble beginnings in 2006 with one teacher and two forms of dance. Almost ten years later, the institute now offers classes in contemporary dance, ballet, trapeze, hip hop, break dancing, hula, acting, and musical theater. Showcasing the talents of its students each year in a final performance, the school strives to enliven and enrich the community with its art. The teachers are the best in their respective fields and each shares their passion and experience with the Prince Dance students. Now, in dynamic partnership with the Kahilu Theatre, Prince Dance's home, scholarships for students, a greater variety of classes, and the Institute allows for the ability to create a large-scale production, showcasing these budding talents. Prince Dance Institute's mission is to teach excellence in the performing arts and to provide a place for arts appreciation, connection, and education in the community at large.

Pre-ballet and Creative Movement
A stimulating and exploratory dance class that will introduce classical ballet and contemporary dance concepts. Moving at an easy pace for young dancers, this class will cover basic ballet positions of the lower and upper body, flexibility and stretching exercises, musicality, and simple ballet and contemporary steps both stationary and crossing the floor. The class will culminate with simple choreography and dance games.

Keiki and Me Dance | Groove Together
This class celebrates the fun of creative movement while introducing young dancers to foundational dance concepts. Caregivers are welcome to participate as needed, offering support as their dancer becomes more independent.

Keiki Dance | Creative Movement
Through imaginative play, music, and age-appropriate exercises, dancers will begin to develop technique, body awareness, and classroom skills all while grooving, giggling, and growing in confidence. A fun and energetic class that uses imagery, music, and shapes to get the young body moving. Learn body coordination plus musicality and rhythmic awareness, improvisation, and basic dance steps in this class. A great introduction to the world of dance and basis for any dance style!
In all of these classes the students will be working towards being comfortable and independent in the studio and following the teacher’s whole group directions. Grown-ups can stay close by or even participate if needed.

We had a fantastic time at the Fall Semester Open House Party! Not only did we have a full on kids costume party, we enjoyed mini dance classes, ate lots of snacks, gave away PDI stickers, and raffled off $100, $75, and $50 class credit prizes!
