Kristen is director of clinical operations at BAYADA Home Health Care. She's a strong leader in the field of applied behavior analysis—supporting people with autism, especially in underserved areas, and expanding access to educational resources for providers.

She was also awarded the CASP Mission Award this past April.

Maui Learning Academy is heading to Waikiki on September 21st - 23rd for the 18th Annual Hawai'i Association for Behavior Analysis Convention! We are so proud of our Director Debi Hoohuli-McKinney and colleagues Greg DelaCruz and Amanda Beth for showing up and spreading the Maui Aloha Spirit ♥️ we are hurting - but we are resilient!

While our hearts are heavy, we are PROUD to represent MAUI!

We understand the need for community and gathering, as this will help all of us to heal.

Therefore, we are planning to be present and bringing Maui's spirit of Aloha to Waikiki, O’ahu for .

On September 21, 2023 - and -McKinney will open the convention with traditional Kānaka Maoli protocol and ‘oli. Followed by a day of outstanding presentations.

On September 22, 2023 will lead a panel of special guests. This will be embedded among amazing speakers.

MAUI is planning to show up and we are calling on all analysts and affiliates near and far to show up for MAUI.

Mahalo nui Emergent Learning Hawai’i for the love ❤️

As the devastation in Maui continues, the outpouring of aloha and care is a testament to the strength of our community. At Emergent Learning Center Hawaii, we are astounded by the selfless acts of the Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) of : Gina, Melody, Khara, Dani, Serina, Vika, and Brooksie. In a time of need, they sacrificed their center space to provide shelter for families in desperate need of comfort and safety.

Their actions go beyond mere duty; they are a shining example of empathy, compassion, and humanity. To the RBTs of Maui Learning Academy, we at Emergent Learning Center Hawaii extend our heartfelt appreciation. You are lights in the dark, rays of hope, and pure aloha. 🌺

What an amazing opportunity for our families to speak up about their experiences in Hawai’i!

Researchers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa are conducting a study about how feeling stigmatized by others affects the quality of life of parents raising children diagnosed with autism in Hawaii.

We are looking for parents of children diagnosed with autism to participate in a brief online research survey. The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. No personally identifying information is being collected. We will only use group data in this research so your individual answer will not be identified.

This is an important study because, to date, there is no data of this kind from Hawaii. Our hope is that the results from this study may substantially influence faculty instruction, practitioner training, and help the medical community in raising awareness that support for parents raising children with autism is lacking and needs to be addressed early.
