Rachel Hexem, COTA/L, joined our RehabVisions Dickinson team a few weeks ago and has already been a wonderful addition to the clinic.

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Rachel helps patients build the skills and confidence to make everyday activities easier and more manageable. She especially enjoys seeing people overcome challenges and reach goals that matter to them.

One week ago today, we wrapped up Scrubs Camp with an unforgettable hands-on mass casualty simulation!

On Day 3 campers experienced what it's like when multiple emergency response agencies work together during a real-life emergency. Students stepped into the roles of firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, and emergency room nurses, while six campers became "patients" complete with realistic special effects makeup to simulate injuries.

The scenario began with a mock dorm fire, where the Fire Department rescued patients from the scene. EMS crews triaged and transported them to the emergency room, where ER nurses provided treatment. Meanwhile, police officers secured the scene and interviewed witnesses.

It was an incredible opportunity for campers to see firsthand how communication, teamwork, and collaboration are essential during an emergency. What a fun and memorable way to bring healthcare and public safety careers to life!
