Last week our dual-enrolled seniors who qualified as South Piedmont Community College honorees were treated to a special award ceremony, where they each received a certificate along with an honor cord to wear at graduation. To receive honors with SPCC, students must receive no course grade below a C during their entire time enrolled, and complete a minimum number of credit hours. Last week we had the opportunity to welcome back a former Anson County Early College student from the class of 2024 to speak with our JROTC program. Caleb Laney is currently a senior at Appalachian State University majoring in Biology with a minor in Military Science.

He talked to students about what college is really like: balancing ROTC, school, and military life- and encouraged them to stay focused on their goals. He also shared his experiences as a ROTC cadet and Specialist in the Army National Guard.

After graduation, he plans to commission into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and pursue a career in medicine. We appreciate him coming back and pouring into the next generation!

Happy Friday! Art teacher Ms. Melton received this week’s teacher treat.
