Waconia Public Schools A public school district serving 4,000 students and families in early childhood through 12th grade. Bonifacius, and New Germany.

The Waconia Public Schools, also known as Independent School District 110, provides outstanding education to students who reside in Waconia, Minnetrista, St. We are a welcoming school community, located in Carver and Hennepin Counties, about 20 miles west of the Highway 494 loop around Minneapolis. Waconia Community Education is also a part of the Waconia Public Schools, and includes Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Kids Company (school aged day care), and Wildcat Preschool, along with hundreds of opportunities for recreation and education for all district residents. Approximately 4,000 students are learning in our schools every day, with class sizes lower than many metro area school districts. The size of our relatively small district, schools, and classes allows us to focus on students as individuals and meet their academic, emotional, artistic, health, and athletic needs. Students receive education in three elementary schools (Kindergarten through grade 5), one middle school (grades 6-8) and one high school (grades 9-12).

Get ready for plenty of laughs, music and courtroom drama as we follow Elle Woods, Bel Air’s favorite pink-clad blonde, and her Chihuahua, Bruiser, to Harvard Law School. Along the way, Elle discovers she has far more legal savvy than anyone expected.

Waconia High School students recently had a unique opportunity to participate in the civic process as members of Waconia Mayor Tim Litfin’s Waconia Youth Mayoral Advisory Council hosted a two-part Meet the Candidates event featuring Jessica Heger and Pat Barry, the candidates for Carver County Sheriff.

The events took place on Monday and Thursday this week, with each 20-minute session held before the start of the school day. The candidates answered questions developed by Waconia High School students, giving them an opportunity to learn more about the candidates, the role of the Carver County Sheriff, and the importance of being informed and engaged in their community.

A couple of weeks ago, we announced that two Waconia High School students, Jacob Senne and Mia Tiller, had been named 2027 National Merit Semifinalists. Today, we’re proud to recognize Madelyn Hartmann, who has been named a 2027 National Merit Commended Student!

Each year, approximately 34,000 students nationwide are recognized as Commended Students for their exceptional academic promise. Madelyn earned this distinction by scoring among the top 50,000 students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last fall, placing her in the top 4% of all students who took the test.

Congratulations, Madelyn, on this outstanding achievement! When she is not working on academics, Madelyn is involved in the WHS National Honor Society, studio dance, the WHS Fashion Club, marching band, and jazz band.

🚨Important spectator information for Friday evening's football game at Burnsville

Kickoff Friday evening at Burnsville High School will be at 5:00 p.m.

Waconia High School students WILL need to show their student ID or a live view of Infinite Campus to be allowed entry into the stadium.

Students in 8th Grade and younger will require a parent or guardian to accompany them.

No entry will be allowed after halftime, even with a ticket.

Waconia fans are required to park in the East Lot off Riverview Drive and enter the stadium through the East/Visitor Gate.

As we prepare to say goodbye to September, we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to thank the members of our School Board during School Board Recognition Month.

At the September 28 School Board meeting, Superintendent Brian Gersich shared his appreciation for the Board:

“We have seven board members who I absolutely enjoy working with and appreciate very much. It’s not easy being a school board member and a lot of people just don’t want to do this work because of the hours and responsibilities but also the tough decisions that need to be made and the kind of political environment that some places find themselves in. We have a great board that is very committed. Strong schools build strong communities and I appreciate the board's role in that process.”

We are grateful to our seven School Board members for their service, commitment and dedication to our students, staff and community. Please join us in thanking them for all they do for Waconia Public Schools!

Get ready for plenty of laughs, music and courtroom drama when Waconia High School presents Legally Blonde: The Musical!

Follow Elle Woods, Bel Air’s favorite pink-clad blonde, and her Chihuahua, Bruiser, as she heads to Harvard Law School to win back her boyfriend, only to discover that she has far more legal savvy than anyone expected.

A reminder to families that Waconia Public Schools has a scheduled two-hour early release on Wednesday, September 30.

K-12 students, along with full-day Wildcat Preschool students at the three elementary schools, will be released two hours earlier than their normal dismissal times. Students at Bayview, Laketown and Southview Elementary Schools will be released at 12:30 p.m. Students at Waconia Middle School will be released at 1:15 p.m. At Waconia High School, students will be released from their final class at 12:35 p.m., at which time lunch will be available to all students. Buses will leave the High School to transport students home at 1:15 p.m.

There will be no afternoon Wildcat Preschool classes at the Early Childhood Enrichment Center. The Extended Day Wildcat Preschool class will end at 12:30 p.m. The ECFE Bridge to Preschool class will end at 12:45 p.m.

Students who utilize bus transportation will be dropped off at their bus stops approximately two hours earlier than their normal times.

Last night, the School Board recognized six students who received National Community Service Awards from InnerView. Congratulations to Riley Collins, Abigail Foss, Avery Gelschus, Evelyn Gilkey, Ezra Glieden, and Cameron Schneider.

The InnerView National Community Service Awards recognize students who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to serving their schools, communities, and others. The awards celebrate student volunteers whose service reflects leadership, compassion, and a dedication to making a positive difference. Each year, students are recognized nationally for the impact of their volunteer efforts and their contributions to their communities.

At tonight's Regular Meeting, the School Board of Waconia Public Schools gratefully accepted the following recent donations from community businesses and organizations.

💜 $1,050 donated by the Waconia Middle School PTO for vinyl floor graphic replacements
💛 $1,500 donated by the Waconia Lions for co-ed lacrosse equipment
💜 $600 donated by Minnesota Core Volleyball for Co-ed volleyball nets

Thank you for these generous donations, which will be used to help us achieve our mission of maximizing opportunities for all students to explore their passions and create their success by committing to a community that includes academic rigor, social growth, and emotional wellbeing.
