Waconia Public Schools

Waconia Public Schools A public school district serving 4,000 students and families in early childhood through 12th grade. Bonifacius, and New Germany.

The Waconia Public Schools, also known as Independent School District 110, provides outstanding education to students who reside in Waconia, Minnetrista, St. We are a welcoming school community, located in Carver and Hennepin Counties, about 20 miles west of the Highway 494 loop around Minneapolis. Waconia Community Education is also a part of the Waconia Public Schools, and includes Early Childho

od Family Education (ECFE), Kids Company (school aged day care), and Wildcat Preschool, along with hundreds of opportunities for recreation and education for all district residents. Approximately 4,000 students are learning in our schools every day, with class sizes lower than many metro area school districts. The size of our relatively small district, schools, and classes allows us to focus on students as individuals and meet their academic, emotional, artistic, health, and athletic needs. Students receive education in three elementary schools (Kindergarten through grade 5), one middle school (grades 6-8) and one high school (grades 9-12).

Junior Zayda Butler (left) and senior Mia Tiller (right) were sworn in as the new student representatives on the School Board for the 2026-27 school year at last night's regular meeting.

Student school board representatives serve as advisors to the school board and administration, offering insights into the development and assessment of policies and regulations within our school system by attending school board business meetings and work sessions. Though they do not have voting rights, they act as a vital link between the student body and the school board, also gaining valuable governmental experience through their participation.

We are excited to introduce Bound, our new event and scheduling platform for Waconia High School athletics and activities. Bound replaces the Rschool website (www.metrowestconference.org) and will provide students, families, and fans with one convenient place to access the information they need throughout the season.

To access our Bound website, visit www.gobound.com/mn/schools/waconia

Through Bound, you will be able to find schedules, rosters, scores, standings, ticketing information, notifications, and more—all through one website and mobile app. Our goal is to make following Waconia activities easier and more convenient by bringing this information together in one place.

Bound has also been adopted by all of our conference schools and many schools across Minnesota, creating a more consistent experience for families and fans as they follow activities throughout the state. We are excited to make this transition and believe Bound will be a valuable resource for our students, families, coaches, and community.

Students and families may also find it helpful to download the Bound app on their mobile devices.

Some great news to share about our Waconia Schools fishing club! Incoming freshmen Asher Skare and Mason Griggs took second place at the Southwest Metro and Greater Southwest Last Chance Regional Qualifier on August 12 at Washington and Stella Lakes in Dassel. This means the duo now qualifies for the Minnesota Junior BASS Nation High School State Championships on September 12-13 on Leech Lake.

In other news, incoming eighth grader Vincent Brown and incoming sixth grader August Brown placed second at the Junior State Championships on July 17 on Lake Pokegama. This result qualifies them for the Junior National Championships, which will be held next July.

Congratulations to all! 🎣🎣🎣

We’re incredibly proud to see one of our 2024 graduates making a difference in someone else’s life through the National Marrow Donor Program.

When Austin Randall agreed to have his cheek swabbed by the National Marrow Donor Program (formerly known as Be the Match) in fall of 2024, the current University of Minnesota Duluth football junior didn't think much of it.

Following School Board approval, the District will begin removing approximately 50 dead or dying trees at various school sites this week. The work may take 7–10 days to complete.

Most of the trees being removed are ash trees that have been impacted by emerald ash borer. To help replenish the trees being removed, the District plans to plant approximately 10–15 new trees each year going forward.

Some tree removal will take place near school playgrounds and other areas sometimes used by students and families during the summer months. For everyone’s safety, please follow any posted signs or directions from staff and crews and keep a safe distance from work areas.

A 2013 graduate of Waconia High School, Nolan holds both a master’s degree and a doctorate degree in nursing from St. Catherine University.
