While a lot of people are enjoying their Memorial Day relaxing, having cookouts, or taking a break, many home childcare providers are still working behind the scenes.

Today, my day off looked like spreading mulch on the daycare playground. Because even on our days off, we’re still thinking about the children. We’re still working to make sure their environment is clean, safe, fun, and ready for them to run, play, laugh, and make memories.

People often don’t see this side of childcare. They don’t see the weekends spent sanitizing toys, reorganizing classrooms, shopping for supplies, mowing playgrounds, washing bedding, filling paperwork out, or improving outdoor spaces.

But we do it because we care.
We do it because we love the kids.
And because their safety and happiness matter to us.

This job is so much more than just “watching kids.” It’s creating an environment where children can thrive, explore, and feel loved every single day. Even if that means spending our holiday covered in mulch and sweating in the sun. 😂

On May 23rd, This Little Piggy Academy officially celebrated 10 YEARS in business! 🎉

10 whole years of loving, teaching, and caring for so many amazing children and families. Over the years, we’ve survived COVID, short staffing, director changes, countless staff changes, and 10 annual state inspections — all while keeping deficiencies to a minimum and continuing to make sure our children are always safe, loved, and cared for.

To every family and every staff member who has ever been part of our Piggy family — THANK YOU. None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you walking through our doors and trusting us with your babies. ❤️

A huge shoutout also goes to the owners, Michael and Samantha Orlando, for the countless hours of labor, dedication, and love they have poured into making this place function day after day! From flooded toilets and water leaks to multiple floor changes 🥴 — y’all have truly done it all behind the scenes to keep Piggy running strong. Thank you, Samantha and Michael, for creating a business that truly feels like family. ❤️

This is such a huge accomplishment, and we are beyond proud of the Piggy establishment and everyone who has helped make these last 10 years possible! 🐷 Here’s to many more!! 🥂🥳

There truly aren’t enough words to express how much the Piggy staff appreciates each and every one of our wonderful parents. From the thoughtful gifts and delicious meals to the sweet handmade cards and kind words, every gesture has meant so much to us.

We genuinely love and care for all of the children in our care, and the love and appreciation shown to us this week has been incredibly overwhelming in the best way. Watching your little ones learn, grow, and thrive is the greatest reward, and we are so thankful to be a part of their lives each day.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your constant support, kindness, and trust. You are the reason we are able to do what we love, and you make our jobs a true joy every single day. 💛

Watching our little ones grow from infants into confident, curious big kids has been one of the sweetest and most rewarding journeys. While we are not quite ready to see them move on, it has been such a privilege to love, guide, and watch each of them grow every step of the way. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.💕 Once a piggy always a piggy 🐷
