Our first stop: São Paulo! We spent the day with Igreja Baptista Bandeirante and the students of Contraponto music school. Then, we held our first Hymn Festival service of a few we’ll be holding here in Brazil.

Last night, church music students led a worship experience in the round in the Student Union ballroom, featuring songs, Scripture, and a message. The gathering marked the 40 Collective’s final event with graduating members Sarah Davis, Ruth Edwards, Sylvia Jones, and Monic Malas. Sic ’em, church music students!

Today, we host John L. Bell as the 41st Annual Northcutt Lecturer! John is a longtime friend of the Dunn Center, having previously joined us as a guest worship leader at Alleluia and the Hearn Innovator Series. We are honored to host John again, traveling to Waco from Scotland, for this special occasion.

John’s lecture, “The Essential Heterogeneity of Congregational Song,” is sure to be a rich learning experience for church musicians and churchgoers alike. The lecture will begin at 4:00 pm in the Foyer of Meditation with a reception to follow downstairs in the Cox Reception Hall. All are welcome!
