Good morning FFA! As we wrap the year up don’t forget to add our remind for more frequent updates on chapter activities!

This past week was the Texas High School Welding Series State Finals @ TSTC Waco.
We were fortunate enough to qualify 7 welders, build off team and 2 in the cutting contest,
Our build off team Luis A, Brandon B, Corey C and Hunter K worked for two days on 2 build and at times were short 1 or 2 men at a time for the welding portion of the event. At the end of the day they placed 8th out of 18 in the closest build off we have ever entered. (7 points separated the top 10 teams) This group will come back strong next year only having to replace 1 senior.

We had 1 student Brandon B make it to the final round of welding by completing and passing one of the 1st 2 welds on Thursday. On Friday he was 1 of 8 that made it past visual inspection but fell a little short in x-ray.
As a their welding instructor I could not be more proud of how they performed and their willingness to jump in and help out wherever I needed them over the past 2 days.

We want to congratulate our friends from Central High Bulldog Welding for taking home win for the first state finals.

On Friday the Fabricator’s of Houston held their Annual Sporting Clay Tournament.
This is the time that all scholarship awards are presented to all the deserving seniors.
This year our own Rosie Walker received 2 different scholarships
The first one from the Hold ‘Em and Hot Em Club and the Second one was from the Texas High School Welding Series.

If you see her walking down the hall congratulate her.

FFA Meeting this Thursdays (4/11) in room 1653. This will be an information meeting and if you want to run for officer or are thinking about it this will be the meeting to attend to get all your questions answered and pick up your application packet. We will be serving pizza to all in attendance.

Broilers Important info: Monday, April 1, 2024 is SHOW DAY and its right around the corner! Are you ready?!

Broiler Check in is 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. (Livestock Barn)
Turkey Check in is 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. (Livestock Barn)
Broiler Show is at 10:00 a.m. (Livestock Barn)
Turkey show is immediately following the broiler show. (Livestock Barn)

If your child is at showing next week at county fair; parents must complete works hours. Each parent must complete 2 hours PER child showing. Work hours are available through WCFA if you are still needing to sign up.

TODAY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GET WORK HOURS!!! 2pm-6pm @ WCFA FAIR GROUNDS!! BE SURE TO SIGN IN AND OUT TO RECEIVE CREDIT! YOU CAN NOT SHOW WITHOUT 4 WORK HOURS!
