To the PNM going through recruitment this week-
All the preparation and excitment has come down to this week- I can’t believe it’s already here!
I know this week can feel a bit overwhelming, whether it’s uneasiness of what’s to come, excitment to get to know some new friends, or eagerness to finally run home, we are overjoyed for the week ahead, and gladly meet you just where you are.
I want to encoruage you to soak up each moment this week has to offer. Take deep breaths, walk in confidence, and don’t be afraid to be authentically yourself. Everything else will fall into place. I’m sure you’ve heard that piece of advice many times, that “be yourself” advice. But I speak with complete sincerity when I say that staying true to who you are, what you love, and where you place your value is so important this week- it made all the difference for me. Recruitment week is a sweet opportunity to find that place that feels like home, where you feel celebrated and encouraged, as well as deeply valued and cared for.
One of the sweetest things I noticed about the women in Chi Omega was their devotion to being inclusive. I had never been in a place where I was able to authentically be myself, as well as feel so incredibly apart of a friendship that accepted me so well. That’s the culture of this chapter that I have been able to witness for the past 3 years, and something that I hope you are able to see this week.

“Going into my freshman year, I was very eager to find a community where I could not only be my authentic self, but also be challenged to grow. I met all different types of amazing people, but never felt as genuinely loved and accepted as I did when I was with Chi Os. They are joyful in good and bad times, they love unconditionally, walk in humility, and are wise beyond their years. I continue to meet girls in every member class that I admire and want to be more like. The friendships I have made through Chi O are friendships that I know will last beyond my time at Baylor. They are the friends that make even the smallest moments the most fun and the friends that are there for me no matter what. I’m better for knowing this group of women and getting to walk alongside them. If I got to do it all over again, oh the answer would 100% be Chi O!”

The symphony was never just a fun decoration for the wall, but something Baylor Chi Omegas were constantly striving to live out and I felt that in the way they loved me during my first semester. They made me feel special and treasured. I knew how proud I would be to wear the letters and be able to represent such a beautiful, strong, and kind group of women. I have never had to fit a mold in Chi O because they love me exactly how I am. On my best day or my worst day, Chi O is my home.”
