Happy International Coffee Day!
A couple years ago, our youngest son studied abroad in Italy, so we OF COURSE, had to visit him! Italy is quite possibly my most favorite place to visit.
While visiting our son, I learned to appreciate the Italian espresso--small, dark and strong. Since then, I have taken my coffee black.
This image was taken on our last day in Italy...we were about to head back to Texas. I was sad to leave, yet, ready to be home in my own bed.
Are you a coffee drinker? Morning only? All day? What is your favorite way to drink your java?

NEW SERIES!
Let's take a look at each Type at work. How do they communicate? What's their leadership style? What is their favored and least favored work setting?
We will explore these questions and more.
If you could work anywhere, what would that workspace look like? Would you work odd hours? Alone? In an open community setting? How do you work best?

How would you describe your office--healthy and cooperative, or unhealthy and dysfunctional?
Do you ever think to yourself, "I would never have done/said that!"
Do you get frustrated with how other team members seem to move at a snail's pace, OR, they tend to be READY.FIRE.AIM?
Basically, are your coworkers and/or employees a puzzle to you?
PM me and let's talk about how to bring me to your workplace to help your team better understand themselves and each other.

Hi there, Assertive Types! Let's talk, for just a sec, about high energy, because that's what usually describes this group. High energy and future thinking.
3s, 7s, and 8s think about what they want and just go for it!
These Types move against others, whether externally or internally. They tend to be less affected by an inner critic, and appear to have good understanding of who they are in the world. The are get-it-done folks, usually.
3s--focus on their goals, but if someone or something gets in the way, they will go right at whatever is in the way of achieving that goal.
7s--devote much of their time to planning what is next; they will go after pursuing new and interesting things
8s--the most assertive of the three, they can be hyper focused on the task ahead and basically bulldoze their way through
Unfortunately, if always looking ahead, all three of these Assertive Types can misuse or neglect their feelings, if not aware.
Growth Point: With INTENTIONALITY, these three Types can slow down and quiet the frenzied activity and connect with their hearts...to notice and stay in the present moment...and ask themselves what they are feeling (and stay there to actually feel it).

Hey, y'all!
Let's talk STANCES, shall we?
Stances describe how each Type gets what they want in life, how they engages their world and how they try to problem solve...again, to get what they desire.
The Assertive group (3s, 7s, and 8s) think about what they want and they take action. They tend to "move against" others. We'll explore these three Types more in the coming days.
The Dependent group (1s, 2s, and 6s) focus more on the feelings and what's happening around them, then act accordingly. They tend to "move (with or) toward" others. More on the Dependent stance next week.
The Withdrawing group (4s, 5s, and 9s) tend to look more into themselves for their basic needs. They don't move with or against people; they tend to "move away" from others. More on the Withdrawing stance next week.
With which group do you most resonate?

New series beginning this week!
We'll be talking about Stances. Ever heard of them?
When I train groups, I always start with 3 Rules:
1) Don't type other people.
2) Don't weaponize other people's Types.
3) Hold all of it loosely.
If you understand Stances, though, you can get around Rule #1 by noticing how others engage the world and how they try to problem solve. You may not know their Type, but you can read the energy they bring into the room. From there, you can choose healthy ways to adapt and better understand those with whom you have relationships.
I look forward to exploring Stances with you this week! See you on Friday!

Was waiting at the car dealership for my annual service call.
What does waiting do to you?
How do you fill that time?
People watch? Phone? Laptop/work?
This dealership had a large and comfortable waiting area, including cubbies for people to do work. I knew to take my laptop and phone charger, but I also tucked a book into my bag, just in case.
It was quiet, secluded and cool (we've hit the upper 90s/100s, so A/C is a must!).
Looking back, I wish I had not taken anything but the book...if even that. I wish I had used the time to practice silence, stillness, and solitude. Even in the car dealership! I've learned I need to give my brain a rest, often.
When was the last time you were without the phone, computer, music, people, pets, kids?
Just thinking about it--how does it make you feel?
Have you considered adding in a daily time of being alone and quiet, to pray, meditate, or just be?

CENTERS OF INTELLIGENCE
Let's talk about the Gut (body) Center, today!
Some basics:
*Types included in this Center: 8, 9, and 1
*They are concerned with Power and Control
*These Types are doing (action) oriented--they listen to their gut in decision-making. (Intuition and instinctual knowledge is king--they sometimes know before they KNOW.)
*These Types can help us remember to be present to what matters.
If unaware, these Types can depend too deeply on their instincts, and abandon their feelings and thoughts. When anxiety (stress) appears, anger or frustration is usually the response, and can lead the Types to believe they are feeling.
8s can excessively act at the expense of themselves and others
9s can forget themselves and move into their inner sanctums to plan and muse
1s can often be reactive (makes things just so) with a critical bent
If unaware, these Types can compulsively live in bouts of overactivity, re-activity, or over-planning...even in-activity to avoid. As with all the Types, in order to achieve harmony, they must become fully aware of all three Centers.
Gut/Body Types need to ask themselves:
What feelings am I feeling (beyond anger/frustration)?
Have I thought through this fully?
If you are a Gut Type, where have you seen growth in noticing your Heart and Head Centers?
