Are leaders of character still out there?

A modern Stoic writer, Ryan Holiday, recently made a wonderful point: whether leaders of character still exist depends on whether we choose to be them.

That idea connects directly to what our cadets work on every day. Leadership doesn’t start with rank or position—it starts with habits like integrity, dependability, initiative, courage, and loyalty.

In JROTC, we believe leadership of character begins right here: in classrooms, on teams, in our community, and in how cadets take care of one another.

We’re proud of the young leaders who are choosing to live those values every day.

Congratulations to MSgt Lopez on his retirement from the Marine Corps after more than a quarter century of service. He has chosen to continue serving his country and community by developing a new generation of Americans into responsible and productive citizens. We are both excited and fortunate to have him at Midway ISD Midway High School Panther Company. One chapter ends and another begins.
