I am sorry to tell you that the EHS Class of 1992 20-Year Reunion scheduled for Saturday, October 6th has been canceled due to low response. Anyone who has already submitted their registration will be refunded in full by tomorrow evening.
There have been some questions raised about date, venue, price, etc. I am possibly opening a can of worms, but here are some quick answers to those points:
Date: After much discussion it was determined that at this point in our lives people have family obligations over Thanksgiving weekend (possibly not even in Voorhees, Gibbsboro or Berlin) and additionally many 20th reunions have strayed away from Thanksgiving weekend. Other weekends have proven successful for other reunions -- specifically Columbus Day weekend as some people have the extra day for travel if needed.
Venue: After discussion and research into the success of other 20th reunions, it was determined that a casual setting was the way to go. I do not live in the area and I suggested venues in Philly but I was persuaded that local would be more preferred. P.J. Whelihan's was suggested: they had the space in the private room to accommodate our potential crowd and the casual feel that was decided upon.
Price: A lot of consideration was given to all the plans, but price was a big concern. Knowing that people would not want the price very high and keeping in mind that many other 20-year reunions have cost more than $80 a person and have been short on food, it was decided that the cost should not exceed $65 (which was the price of our 10-year reunion).
These are the things that were included in the cost:
All food (lots of it -- presented in a way that would lend itself to chatting and catching up)
Soft drinks
One drink from the bar (keeping in mind that people drink in varying amounts -- therefore offering a bar option but not hiking the price up very high for those who would not be having more. That is why the drink specials were offered as well)
Dessert (lots of it)
Coffee and tea
AND ALSO:
DJ
Slide show of photos from high school
Some decor to make it feel like a party
All online processing fees (for the registration site and for PayPal).
Hope to see everyone some time in the future. It has been suggested that a 21st or a 25th reunion be planned. Another suggestion was made to have a multi-class reunion. If any of those ideas comes together, hopefully I’ll see everyone there.
Be well.
All my best,
Joanne Saidman Lasky
