The 7th graders visited the Hawai’i Wildlife Center in Kapaau to learn about native birds. We also learned about how the HWC rehabilitates birds and then releases them back into the wild.

The Mentoring Program sponsored the St. James community meal last night. 8 students and 9 mentors volunteered for the event and many more mentors baked desserts for the meal. The students loved serving the community and they represented the school so graciously!

Seventh graders just returned from an overnight huaka’i at Volcanoes National Park. On Monday we hiked 7 miles from the Visitors Center along the rim of Harlma’uma’u, through Kilauea Iki crater and Nāhuku Lava Tube and then back along the rim of Kilauea Iki. We got plenty of food and rest at Kilauea Military Camp. Such a great two days of fun, learning and connections. Mahalo to everyone that helped make this happen!
