Aloha, Our afternoon drop off location in Na'alehu will be in front of the OKK market. We will use this location until our regular areas are available and safe. Parents may park in the lower portion of the parking lot. Ocean View students will also be dropped off here starting on Monday. Mahalo

Bus service for Na`alehu and Pahala will resume Tuesday, August 25, 2026 with the following changes:

Pick up and drop off in Naalehu will be at the Shopping Center Parking lot.
We will have a substitute bus driver, Larry Parrish, this week and expect Dane to resume driving next week Monday.
We will continue with our current departure times from Na`alehu in the morning and Volcano in the afternoon, but anticipate delays in reaching the bus stops in each direction. We will send out an updated schedule to reflect these changes towards the end of the week. The current bus schedule is attached.
Please note that the Kula `Amakihi program will be in remote learning for the remainder of this week. Students in this program should continue with their remote learning/packets for the remainder of the week. We anticipate that they will return in person next week.

Learning Packet Pick-up for Ka'u students unable to attend school in person and Kula 'Amakihi. Packets are individualized. Pick up at the location of your family residence.
Pahala - Today, Mon, Aug. 24 between 3:30-5:30 pm at the Pahala Community Center.
Na'alehu - Tomorrow, Tue, Aug. 25 between 11 am-2 pm at Hana Hou Restaurant 95-1148 Na'alehu Spur Rd.
Ocean View families will be contacted individually.

All campuses open Monday 8/24. Volcano has power and internet.
Mt. View has running water but no power or internet.
No Bus yet.

All scheduled after school enrichment classes are starting this coming week.
There will be van service to take students from OVR to KKL and KKL to OVR as needed.
Classes will begin next week (8/24) and run until the week of 9/28.

Aloha Kaʻū ʻohana,

Our hearts are with you all during this difficult time.

Teachers are creating hard copy learning packets which will be delivered early next week to locations in Pahala, Naʻalehu, and Ocean View. Information on specific locations and times will be sent out shortly. All learning packets will be optional.

We are setting up a Mobile Campus and Resource Hub at the Pahala Community Center with Starlink access for Volcano School students and families, which should be up and running sometime next week.

We are coordinating relief and support efforts for Volcano School students and families. Supplies and resources will be collected for weekly delivery to Pahala and Naʻalehu. To request specific items, please call 808-985-9800.

There is currently no bus service though we are hoping to have the bus available soon.

Volcano School campuses will reopen Mon, 8/24. Breakfasts and sack lunches will be provided. You are encouraged to send additional food and healthy snacks with your children. We continue to monitor tropical storm two-C and will provide updates, as needed. Stay safe. Aloha mai.
