Sequoia honors students at the Awards Ceremony
05/07/2016
Sequoia High School has received the George and Helen Hartzog Volunteer Youth Group Award for the Pacific West Region of the National Park Service. The Hartzog Award is the highest recognition the National Park Service gives to recognize exemplary volunteer contributions. What began simply to connect SHS with the richest classroom, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and to familiarize students with one of the world’s most known places, has transformed into an outstanding partnership that has empowered students, families, and staff. More so we have proven that even when one feels they are at the smallest, they too can grow to become a mighty Sequoia. I want to thank every teacher and staff member that has that has helped us develop our Forestry Program, from Dan King, Daniel Jeffcoach, Joe Silva, Bill Davis, Todd Oto, Emily Ramirez, every staff member that joined us on a trip, and huge praise to Andi Perez and Jalisca Thomason for elevating our program to a higher level. This year alone we have added FFA, obtained the resources for our Chain Saw Program, increased Rangers in the Classroom, and supported research studies in the park. Excellent Work SHS!
