On behalf of the Veterans Resource Center and the College of the Sequoias we want to take a minute to show our appreciation for our Veterans. For those still in uniform and those who have served we want to thank you for your dedication and the sacrifices you've made to uphold the ideals of freedom that our nation was founded upon. For every missed holiday, family gathering and milestone we cannot thank you enough for your willingness to serve. Happy Veterans Day and Welcome Home!

Did you know that as of June 6, 2019 the VA offers eligible veterans the opportunity to seek urgent care services at non-VA facilities without prior Authorization?

Urgent care is one of the new benefits offered as part of the VA MISSION Act to give Veterans greater choice in their health care.

Veteran Su***de is not just a military or VA issue. Communities need to come alongside veterans as they transition from the military to civilian life and be there beyond the initial transition period. We need more people to understand the risk factors and be able to spot the warning signs. This weekend we will March against veterans su***de alongside A Combat Veterans Hope for their annual ACVH March Against Veteran Su***de in hopes to raise awareness. If you are a combat veteran in the central valley and you are not connected with other veterans check out A Combat Veteran's Hope and consider signing up. There is power in connection and that is what ACVH provides.

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of su***de please call the Veterans Crisis Line 1.800.273.8255 and press 1

If you would rather speak to someone in person the VA now offers 24/7 Emergency Mental Health Care at all of their Medical Centers (VA Hospitals)

The VA, Department of Defense and other agencies have implemented community integration resources for veterans and servicemembers to become more connected to mental health professionals and the services they offer, but there needs to be increased awareness of these services.
