Mt. Whitney Class of '73

Our condolences go out to the family of Cynthia (Cindy) Jones. Cindy passed away on August 8, 2025 at the age of 70 in Springfield, Missouri. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, NOVEMBER 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Visalia Cemetery, 1300 West Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA

She was born in Visalia on December 11, 1954, to Clark and Joan Jones.

Cindy graduated from Mt. Whitney High School (1973) where she was a member of the MWHS marching band. She graduated from College of Sequoias with a degree in Vocational Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Kaweah Delta Hospital and later as a missionary for Hospital Christian Fellowship ministry.

She is survived by her brother, Larry C. Jones (Cynthia Simoni) and her sister Sandy Hastings (Tim). Her nephews Kevin Jones, Matthew Hastings, Kyle Hastings and her niece Lisa Marshall.

She is also survived by grand nephew Aaron Jones and grand nieces Juliana Marshall, Nicolina Marshall and Madelyn Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Brian “BJ” Jones and niece Julie Jones.

We just received a tip to our website that Elizabeth June Lane of Visalia passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021. We are saddened that we were not aware of her passing at that time. A graveside service for Elizabeth was held Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 9:00 AM at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA 93291.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of yet another member of the Mt. Whitney Class of 1973. Susan Ludekens Cox passed away on April 29, 2025 just sixteen days shy of her 70th birthday. Susan worked for the City of Visalia, Visalia Unified, and Pacific College. Another classmate, Jeff Charest, has sadly passed away. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Our Mt. Whitney Class of 1973 has lost another classmate. Cathy Dancey Harris passed away on October 21, 2024. Cathy was preceded in death by her brother Tom Dancey in 2016 who was also a member of our class of 1973.

A Homily of Prayers service will take place on November 6 at 10:30 AM at the Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel located at 127 E. Caldwell Ave. in Visalia. Graveside services will take place on November 6 at 12 Noon at the North Tulare Public Cemetery located at 4572 J St in Tulare. We are now 1 day before our 50th class reunion on Saturday, October 28th. Reservations were unbelievable for this reunion with 151 responding - our biggest reunion ever! The reunion will be held again at Whitney's Wild Oak Ranch located at 19242 Avenue 300 in Exeter, CA. There is great signage once you turn left off Highway 198 heading towards Exeter to the 4-way light on Highway 65. Once on 65 heading north you will go down about 1/2 mile to the first road on the left which is Ave 300. You will see a red Whitney Ranch sign at the intersection. Go down another 1/2 mile and you will see another red sign and the entrance to the ranch on the right side of the road. Of course, you can also put "Whitney Ranch Exeter" in your GPS!

We are not set up to take credit cards at the event. Please make sure you have cash on hand if you wish to purchase wine, beer, mixed drinks or sodas. Iced tea, lemonade and coffee are included in the price of your meal. You might want to bring extra cash for the raffle too!

Happy hour and supplied appetizers will be available beginning at 5 PM. If you are interested in being included in a group photo, please make sure you arrive by 6 PM. Randy Searcy has agreed to be our official photographer for the group picture that will be taken at 6:15 and for the candid shots throughout the evening.

The buffet dinner will be available at approximately 6:45

The response this reunion cycle has been amazing! We are currently at 152 attendees. The deadline for signing up is Monday, October 23rd at 5 PM. We have to give our caterer the final account after that. You will have to pay on the website unless you are able to hand deliver a check by Monday at 5PM. See you in about one week!
