Staff Spotlight
Our Assistant Director, Amanda Turney, who holds both a toddler and primary Montessori credential, has this to say about her work: I love spending time outdoors with my family, exploring new parks, and playing outside together. Whether hiking a new trail, having a picnic, or simply doing yard work, being in nature brings so much joy. I also enjoy listening to audiobooks, whether on a walk or while unwinding at the end of the day.
I love Montessori because it emphasizes independence, hands-on learning, and respect for a child's natural development. It fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in a natural and meaningful way. Montessori encourages children to explore and engage with the world in a way that nurtures their independence and curiosity.

We’ve been so impressed with the growth our daughters have made through their Montessori journey. It’s been amazing to watch them develop real independence and confidence in themselves. They’ve learned important daily living skills, built a strong foundation in early academics, and are more than ready for kindergarten. The staff is incredibly caring and attentive—they truly see and support each child as an individual. We’re so grateful for the nurturing environment and all the love and guidance our girls have received.

In Montessori education, freedom is never without responsibility.
We don’t say “do whatever you want”—we say “let me help you become capable.”
Through guidance, consistency, and meaningful choices, children develop the self-control they need to thrive in freedom.
At a place to grow Montessori, we honor this balance every day, because real independence begins with gentle, thoughtful limits.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Ms. Blair
Meet Blair Vedenoff, the director of a place to grow Montessori. While you’ll usually find her in the office keeping things running smoothly, her heart is in the classroom.
Whether she’s holding a toddler who needs a little extra love or sitting cross-legged on the floor exploring sensorial materials (the knobbed cylinders are her favorite!), Blair brings warmth and joy wherever she goes.
More often than not, you’ll hear her laughter echoing from the classroom or office. Her favorite moments are walking through the school, seeing children's incredible work, and the intentional, loving guidance from their teachers.
We’re lucky to be led by someone who truly lives the Montessori philosophy—with compassion, purpose, and a whole lot of heart. 🌻

My children have been coming to a place to grow Montessori since they were 20 months old. This was the best decision I could have made for them. The staff here have been extremely supportive and encouraging for my children as well as myself as we navigate through life circumstances and changes. They have always made me feel comfortable communicating about my children’s needs and their successes. Every member of this school community is passionate about what they do, and it is evident when my children come home showing me all of the great things they have learned. My children have grown socially and are very advanced educationally as well as in everyday life skills. I attribute so much of where my children and I are to the support we have from this wonderful staff, and I can never thank them enough. We love A Place To Grow!
