Good Morning. We hope you all are having a fun and productive summer. WAVE Church is organizing a Service Day at Newtown, Bettie F. Williams, Bayside Middle and Bayside High School on August 8 from 9-1. That is a tall order that needs lots of helpers. For Newtown, the work will focus on getting the interior courtyard and bus loop garden all caught up and looking good for the new school year. We wanted to offer everyone the chance to come out and help. Here is a link to their community service page. Newtown can be found under the Great Neck link. We had an amazing turnout for this week’s Tilling and Tending Family Garden Time. It’s amazing how much work we get done with each of these events.

Good Morning. We have had a great turnout for Newtown Elementary's Tilling and Tending Tuesday's Family Garden Time. Our last one had a total of 25 people at the garden helping with weeding, watering and more. Many even took excess tomato plants home to grow in pots or plant in their own garden.

The 30th is our next event. It is from 5-6PM. We might be doing some sanding and painting of benches that night as well.

Today was another Tilling and Tending Tuesday at Newtown Elementary. We had a great crowd. Lots of fun. The next one is June 30th. So much got done. Thank you all that came.

Well. Today was bitter sweet. It was our final garden club meeting. Most of the remaining club is third grade. They move on to Bettie F. Williams next year. So most of my club will be new kids next year. I invited the staff to join us for our final meet. Two came out. They were so eager to harvest. Specifically the blackberries, carrots and broccoli. Hopefully I’ll see some at Tilling and Tending Tuesday over the summer.

Today’s school garden harvest. 8.5 pounds of cabbage. The three cabbage heads that went home with Tilling and Tending Tuesday families last night were the size of the one on the right.
