With Earth Day around the corner, we made "litterbugs" out of trash at Bayside Presbyterian Preschool.

I had a fun day at the Learn With Me Academy centers in Virginia Beach. Through stories and interactive activities, we learned how fragile our Earth is and how to be good stewards.

One of my absolute favorite book collections since I was a child.

Another great way to bring nature into the classroom

Next week is Crafty Reads at the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum. Join me as we learn about the "neighbors'", including horseshoe crabs, sea turtles, dolphins and more. Each day we will read stories, see really animal parts, courtesy of the Virginia Living Museum, and make fun crafts. Spaces still available.

With all three you can do comparisons too.

One of my favorite hats to wear, is as a trainer. Today I worked with Children's Harbor Hampton Roads and VB Virginia Beach GrowSmart to put on "Slipping Science into an already full day". A 2 hr workshop for early childhood teachers. We discovered how much fun it is to do science and nurtured our inner child as we made balancing acrobats, paper bag trees, painted flowers and made self portraits from natural materials. If you would like to have this workshop for your teachers send me a message.

Another great STEAM night at Newtown Elementary School with the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum. The theme was Birds of a Feather. We had feathers to look at under a microscope, feathers to zip and unzip and of course flying ducks. Ben Purvis, one of the carvers, had lots of help sanding the decoys. Fun for kids of all ages.
