Our guitarmaking textbook, first written and published in 1985 and in continuous print until last year, deserved a top-to-bottom makeover, to reflect the many changes and improvement not only to our technique but significantly, to the changes in the guitarmaking universe in forty (forty!!) years. Artisanal guitarmaking was an obscure, far-from-the-mainstream profession when we first wrote GT&T. Now every state in the union boasts at least several fine, full-time luthiers.
Well, Jon and I, after 13 years of dedicated effort, have produced a new, revised edition of the old treatise, suitable for the current age--and in full color! The new, revised manuscript has gone to the designer and a new print edition--and an online companion--should come off the presses by year's end!

Flame maple top with a sunburst finish, paired with a genuine Fender American maple neck and body. This Strat-style build is loaded with three Hawkins handwound single-coil pickups and fully hand-wired electronics for serious tone.
Custom wiring gives the middle pickup its own dedicated volume control, bypassing the selector switch and unlocking a whole new range of sounds.
Finished with chrome hardware, synchronized tremolo, locking tuners, and a red tortoise shell pickguard.

Partscaster Hawkinstien electric guitar with a flame maple top and a sunburst finish. This Fender Stratocaster (Partscaster-Hawkinsien) has a genuine American Fender maple neck and Body. It is equipped with three single-coil Hawkins Handwound pickups and hand wired. The middle pup is directly wired to its own volume pot bypassing the selector switch adding a whole ne world of tone. Chrome hardware, locking tuners and a red tortoise shell pickguard. The hardware is chrome, including a synchronized tremolo bridge and vintage-style tuners.
This guitar has been professionally setup by Brian Hawkins at Hawkins Guitar.
