Our Model Partner!

ATC is pleased to have Sherri Fredrickson and Burns & McDonnell as a Model Partner. Sherri is the Senior Digital Delivery Specialist in the Architecture Department at Burns & McDonnell.

A proud graduate of Virginia Beach City Public Schools and former student of the Vocational Technical Center (now the Advanced Technology Center), Sherri studied Drafting, Architectural Design, and Engineering Design. Over the past six years, she has become one of our most impactful and consistent industry partners, serving as guest speaker, mentor, career fair representative, and Architectural Design class advisor.

Her commitment reflects the very best of what a VBCPS Model Partner represents: sustained engagement, authentic mentorship, and measurable student impact. Our Architectural Design students are fortunate to have her support and benefit greatly from her expertise. VBSchoolsAtc Vbcps

Kudos to ATC Renewable Energy & Technologies I & II students! This week, they participated in the KidWind Challenge held a Nauticus.

They performed exceptionally well. They aced the Knowledge Quiz and received the Judges Award, recognizing their turbine design, strong technical understanding, and their ability to explain their project clearly and professionally to the judges. Additionally, their presentation and technical discussion reflected a high level of preparation and confidence.

Let's celebrate their work and the achievements of our newest engineering program!

ATC was proud to be part of the 18th Annual African American Male Summit this past weekend—and the energy was truly inspiring! We loved seeing so many middle and high school students committed to personal growth while learning about impactful community resources that support mental health, physical wellness, and career pathways.

ATC is honored to be one of those resources, helping students build real-world skills, confidence, and career readiness. One of the weekend highlights was seeing a recent ATC and Bayside High School alum, Amir Seay, who was showcasing his own clothing designs while encouraging students and families to explore ATC. He proudly shared the industry certifications he earned at ATC and spoke enthusiastically about his career at Norfolk Naval Shipyard—a powerful example of what’s possible when students stack skills and pursue multiple interests.

At ATC, we help students explore their passions, build skills, and create their own path to success.

If you’re a student ready to turn curiosity into opportunity—or looking for hands-on, career-focused learning experiences—ATC is the place to start.
