Cape Henry mourns the loss of Mr. Jim Kerbin, a beloved teacher, mentor, and parent of Nathaniel Kerbin '08, who passed away on July 11, 2026.

During his distinguished 25-year career at Cape Henry, Mr. Kerbin inspired generations of students as a dedicated member of the Mathematics and Theatre departments. Whether helping students discover the beauty of mathematics or bringing stories to life on stage through his theater productions, he taught with passion, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to his students.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Kerbin was a devoted member of the Cape Henry community. He was a familiar face in the stands, enthusiastically cheering on his beloved Dolphins and celebrating the achievements of students both on and off the field. His kindness, sense of humor, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on colleagues, students, alumni, and families alike.

Mr. Kerbin was more than an exceptional educator—he was a cherished mentor, friend, and pillar of the Cape Henry community. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the enduring spirit of the school he loved so deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Shore Chapel.

For years, Michael Dieffenbach '10 and his wife, Jessica, dreamed of creating a place where families, friends, and neighbors could experience the beauty of farm life in Chesapeake. Today, that dream has become a reality.
The couple has opened two agritourism venues designed to bring people together while celebrating the region's rich agricultural heritage. Their intimate Baum Road property hosts private experiences such as picnics, photography sessions, birthday parties, and micro-weddings, while their larger venue, Dwellings Farms, welcomes wedding receptions, company picnics, family reunions, and other special gatherings.

Built with the vision of raising their own children close to the land, Michael and Jessica are now sharing that experience with their community. Their long-term goal is to preserve the farm for future generations while promoting Chesapeake's farming traditions through meaningful, memorable experiences.

Congratulations to Michael and Jessica on creating a space where community, family, and agriculture come together. We wish them continued success as they grow this exciting new chapter!
