I enjoy a good corny joke.

What is your favorite corny joke?

Transitions are HARD for my son. This is a great idea I hadn’t thought of before. ❤️

Playfulness is a wonderful way to connect with our kiddos. Which is a powerful way to minimize power struggles and meltdowns. Our little ones are wired for connection with us, so when we're attuned to their emotional needs and take time to strategize ways to connect while guiding them, it helps them through transitions (like bedtime or leaving the park), new experiences (like starting school or a new baby), and other tricky moments.

When you’ve been in the situation before, you’re more inclined to help someone else when you see them where you once were.

We just got .a.great.thing.to.be to add to our book collection. It’s so cute and well done. Will be buying and donating a few copies to the public schools in our area.

SN: That “Leo the late bloomer” book was one of my favorite books as a child and also teaches children that it’s ok to be different and do things at your own pace.

Friends, if I’m a little absent this week, just know I’m doing my part to stay alive. Chemo weeks are tiring but I’m still around to help you out if you need it.

The reason I’ve decided to take on becoming a Master IEP Coach ®️ was first and foremost, personal.

My son, Weston, has Down syndrome and is getting ready for kindergarten. His home school is wanting to place him full time in a self contained classroom. This isn’t what I feel is his least restrictive environment or what’s best for him. I needed clear and kind ways to make a change for him and work with the school without fighting and without constant threats of litigation.

While it is helpful for my family, I feel deeply that sharing the information and helping others is what I want to do. I have witnessed so many families struggle and not know where to turn, I was one of them. Being able to use my experience and training to help other families put out fires and work together with the school is the goal.

You don’t have to be in crisis mode for us to work together. In fact, coming to me before there is an issue, or at least the very beginning of one, is going to help tremendously make things easier, less stressful and and take less of your time.

Like it says in my bio, I’m a military spouse, special needs mom and Master IEP Coach®️. But I’ve also been battling stage 2b triple positive breast cancer over the last 10.5 months. Which means my bones hurt and my stamina is low so I needed accommodations to make my workspace work for me. As you see here, a Pomsky puppy named Zola, to soothe some anxiety, hangers bc laundry is never finished, a desk for the bed and lots of pillows to support my body and lessen the pressure on my joints. Accommodations in and out of the classroom take time to figure out sometimes but they’re doable most of the time.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I love a good latte after getting very little sleep. How do you drink your coffee?

Hello and Welcome.

I dream of seeing my kids grow up and live independent lives that make them happy. In order to get there we have to do the work, stand up for what’s right and keep going, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the journey and laugh along the way.

Thanks for being here and supporting me while I reconstruct 😉 myself in this new position.
