Embracing my curls more and more... this was the first time I modeled with curly hair! Crazy, right? I have honestly always hated my curly hair. Like HATED it.
I honestly thought straight hair was prettier.
I thought straight hair made me look thinner.
I thought people would take me more seriously with straight hair. (This one is legit haha: I truly feel like I’m 5 when I have curly, unruly, spastic hair. Maybe that’s a good thing? 🤔)
I thought if I looked like everyone else and had hair like the “pretty girls” maybe I wouldn’t stick out...
But like I WANNA stick out! I wanna be ME! Now listen, don’t get me wrong... I REALLY like my hair straight. I like running my fingers through it, I like having it slicked back, I like wearing hats with it in messy curls... but my VALUE isn’t tied to my HAIR.
I have also realized that I am 100% unwilling to subscribe to the curly girl method alone. I keep thinking (based on what others’ say is the “right” way) i either have to commit to curly hair forever or commit to straight forever— the narratives people create concerning what everyone “should” do just cracks me up. I just like too many things! It’s the same reason I don’t subscribe to ONE way of eating, ONE brand of makeup, ONE occupation (Taylor’s gonna laugh at that one 🤣🤣), ONE style of photography, ONE style of singing/teaching, ONE political party, ONE way of moving my body, ONE book at a time (I literally listen to like 5 at a time), ONE parenting method... I just embrace it all. Sometimes I like it curly, sometimes I like it straight and ain’t nobody gonna tell me my curls will never reach their potential if apply some heat. (Did you catch the poignant metaphor for life through my hair drama?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣)
LIVE YO LIFE
Also has such cute clothes and is such an incredible photographer! So fun modeling for them!
