Florida has oranges, sunshine, beautiful beaches, and...the most secure email system for educators. I want to spread the word about Massachusetts Maritime Academy's one-of-a-kind Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program, but I am blocked from sending emails. (Frustrating, but you have to admire an email system that could rival the security at Fort Knox.)

If you know a K-12 teacher or administrator in Florida, please help me connect with them. There are three ways to do this:
1. You can pass along my email, [email protected], to them.

2. You can share their email with me, and I will send them information about the program.

3. I can also provide you with information about the program and you can share it with them.
Florida educators who register their class, grade level, or school will be invited to a reception while the TS Kennedy is in port.

We are thrilled to welcome 100 students from Spangdahlem Elementary School to the Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program! The school is located on the Spangdahlem U.S. Air Force Base in Germany. The become our twenty-second Department Of Defense/military base school and our second school in Germany.

Welcome to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade at Bahrain School - our newest Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience participants! This K-12 school is operated by the Bahrain International School Association with the United States Department Of Defense (DoDEA). Graduating seniors can earn an American diploma or an International Baccalaureate diploma. Bahrain School is the only DoDEA school in the Persian Gulf area. Approximately 57% of the students are American citizens. The rest of the students come from 68 different countries.

Last Monday, I tried to think of a way to thank the four schools on the island of Nantucket that are totally rocking participation in the Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program. I decided to recruit other islands to join in on the learning adventure.

One week after my island crusade began, we have twelve island schools participating. The three schools on Nantucket will be joined by a school from the following eight islands:

Adak Island in Alaska
Beaver Island in Michigan
Puerto Rico
San Juan Island in Washington
Swan Island in Maine
Tybee Island in Georgia
Vinalhaven in Maine
Whidbey Island in Washington

If you know an educator that teaches on Martha's Vineyard, on Block Island, or on ANY other island in the United States or around the world, please invite them to join our "Island Club". Throughout Sea Term, we'll shine a spotlight on our participating islands as our cadets are visiting tropical islands in the Caribbean.

Milestone Reached: Today the list of registered participants for Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience passed 5,000 students. Pretty remarkable considering we stated at zero at the beginning of the month.

Total Number of States: 26
Total Number Of Countries (Including The United States): 3
Total Number Of Schools: 98
Total Number of Massachusetts Schools: 61
Total Number of Homeschoolers: 6
Total Number of "Kennedy Schools": 4
Total Number Of DoDea Schools: 6

But, we're NOT stopping here! We're on our way to 10,000 and I need your help!

The 2023 FTV-STX Program has just gone international! Today, I registered a 5th grade class from the American Academy Casablanca. The teacher saw my post on an educational page and decided to sign up her ELA students. Imagine her surprise when I emailed back and told her that there are three students from Morocco at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and one of them will be participating in Sea Term 2023!

Welcome to Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School - our first Florida school to register for the 2023 Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program!

The school uses its proximity to Northeast Florida’s main waterways, as well as partnerships with Mayport Naval Station, Jacksonville University, University of North Florida, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the professional maritime community, to provide students with an unique opportunity to study and understand the importance of our local coastal ecosystems.

Let's get more Florida schools registered for FTV-STX! When Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s TS Kennedy departs in January for Sea Term 2023, Florida will be well-represented! Aboard will be cadets from 12 different Florida cities.
