During March’s meeting, our girls had the pleasure of meeting 2 VRHS graduates and former Purple Pearls. They discussed their lifelong friendship and how they have managed to stay true friends all these years; through gymnastics, to cheer, to now going to different colleges. Our girls then participated in the sweetest activity of giving a flower to someone in the room and saying something nice about them. We are so thankful Lexi and Gracie Jay were able to come pour into our girls. It is definitely a meeting we will all remember!

During our October meeting our Purple Pearls had a special mission; to fill candy bags for the IES adaptive/readiness classes to trick-or-treat. They learned the WHY behind this special service project and got to see visuals and devices used by many of the students in order to communicate. Below you will see some examples of the visuals and a screenshot of an AAC device. Thanks to each and every one of you for making this day possible for our adaptive/readiness students. They are excited about trick-or-treating and working on their communication and social skills in the process!

Happy Monday!! As we are gearing up for the month of October, please take a look at the attached flyer.

Each year our adaptive program takes part in trick-or-treating throughout the school. For the last several years the Purple Pearls have collected, counted, and bagged the candy/treats to make this possible.

Please note that our meeting date is scheduled for October 9th due to fall break. We can’t wait to see our Pearls!!

This year our IES Purple Pearls will have a year-long service project to help support Ronald McDonald House Charities. We will be collecting pop tabs at every meeting and will make a donation at the end of the school year.

Go ahead and start collecting pop tabs now to get a head start! Mrs. Denney’s daughter, Landry, uses canned formula so her family has already begun collecting tabs. Be sure to collect them in a lidded container or a ziplock bag.

We hope that our PEARLS have had a great start to summer break! Throughout the summer we will share ways that our girls can continue to serve our community.

First up, shelf stable meals! So many families use the Little Free Pantries located around the county. Often times there aren’t enough items in these pantries for a full family meal. It is our hope that our girls will be able to create and distribute shelf stable meals to help those in need. Feel free to comment pictures of your PEARL creating bags and distributing them!

**Cans with pop tabs would be great if possible in case the family does not have a can opener*
