🎬🎤🎶 The 4th Grade MLES Chorus performed a few songs for the “Fine Arts Night” at school on Thursday March 16th!
🎬🎶🎤 The 5th Grade MLES Honor Chorus students performed with the DC County-Wide Honor Chorus on Saturday March 18th!
🎉🎉 GREAT JOB to the Chorus students of Mirror Lake Elementary!! 🎉🎉

BLACK HISTORY MONTH has been so much fun in the Music Classroom of MLES!!
🎙️📻 K/1/2nd grades have learned about the GREATS of Jazz…Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald!
🎹 3rd Grade learned about the famous ”King of Ragtime”, Scott Joplin!
🤎Our 4th Graders learned about some of the great “Freedom Songs” and Spirituals such as “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing”!
🎛️ 5th Grade learned about the significance of Harlem Renaissance, Motown, and the Hip-Hop movement. 🪩 💃🏾 🕺🏻

African Americans have played such a vital role in music throughout history and we are all so much better for it! 🎶

Our students have been celebrating THANKFULNESS in Music Class over the last two weeks and this week was all about being thankful for our Veterans! Pre-K through 1st graders did an exciting Patriotic Parade in class, 2nd and 3rd graders learned a song called “Thanks To You”, and 4th and 5th graders listened to the theme song from each branch of the Military!
🇺🇸 On Friday 11/11, our 5th Grade Chorus was honored to sing The National Anthem for a special Veterans Day event. We had a special guest Korean War Vet who came to speak and several students’ parents/grandparents came as special guests as well! THANK YOU VETERANS!!! We are THANKFUL for YOU!!! 🎉🎉

🇺🇸💙🎶❤️ Our 5th grade Chorus was invited to sing the National Anthem at the DC Courthouse annual “September Saturdays” event today! They did such a great job! Such a precious group of students that I am honored to direct! 🎤 🎵
