Thank you to TAFFY Presents for sponsoring Antonio Rocha. He presented fun stories incorporating CORE vocabulary words. Antonio also shared strategies for including movement to support instruction.

🏆We are so proud of Virginia’s 2024 School Psychologist of the Year, Cara Fratta, who has worked in FCPS since 2012. Cara said graduate school did not fully prepare her for her work at the Kilmer Center School, whose mission is to help students with disabilities become “self-determined, effective communicators, and independent individuals who advocate for themselves and others as contributing members of their community.” In psychology, said Fratta, “all of the therapies and assessments are very verbally loaded.” But one major challenge at Kilmer Center is communicating by other means. A big thank you to TAFFY Presents for sponsoring our assembly today by Storyteller Antonio Rocha ! Thanks to their generosity, our students were treated to a fun and interactive performance that explored the power of storytelling.

Room 8 celebrated healthy eating during the morning meeting! They tasted carrots and cucumbers and then voted on which one we liked better. Two students liked carrots and two students liked cucumbers. We had a class tie!

Happy First Day of School! Students learned classroom rules and shared how they felt about coming back to school.
