This week, Oakcrest has transformed into the newest museum in the DMV! 🏛️
Our AP European and AP U.S. History students are showcasing their “It Belongs in a Museum” projects, an assignment challenging students to recreate historical artifacts as they would have existed in their own eras.
The result? Rows of clay pots, embroidered textiles, typewritten poems and Soviet-era protest literature, hand-sewn headscarves, an Irish potato sack dress, Victorian mourning dolls, and so much more, all HANDMADE by our students!
It’s been a fascinating display of creativity, craftsmanship, and historical research. Thank you to our incredible teachers Mrs. Maturi and Ms. Crnkovich for their leadership!

This fall, the Executive Student Council introduced Oakcrest’s school charity for the year: Impaktemos, an educational nonprofit serving women and children in Venezuela.
Students had the opportunity to hear from Impaktemos CEO Ana Maria Gonzalez, learning about the realities of life in Venezuela and the life-changing impact of the organization’s programs. Each class spent the year creatively fundraising through signature fundraising campaigns, including trivia nights, carnivals, raffles, jeans days, and more.
Yesterday, the Executive Student Council proudly presented the final check: an incredible $7,119 raised for the women and children of Venezuela!
Most of all, we are grateful for the opportunity to grow in solidarity with our sisters in another country and in gratitude for the many blessings we so often take for granted. Thank you to our students, faculty, and community for their generosity, creativity, and joyful spirit of service throughout the year.

🇺🇸 The votes are in! This year’s Most Courageous American is Fr. Emil Kapaun, an American Catholic priest and United States Army captain. In this beloved annual tradition, the 8th Grade presented their candidates to the student body after spending the year studying influential figures in American history and sharpening their speech and debate skills to narrow down the finalists. This year’s speeches were delivered by Gina D. ’30, Isabella K. ’30, and Sara N. ’30, with Sara presenting the winning speech. The 6th Grade welcomed their mothers, aunts, and grandmothers to the annual Mother-Daughter Rosary! This cherished tradition marks an important milestone as our youngest Oakies complete their first year at Oakcrest, gathering in gratitude and prayer at the feet of Our Lady of Oakcrest. Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to all the incredible women who guide and inspire our students each day!
