🎨🐢 Making Our Mark ! 🐢🎨
Our Third Grade Terrapins enjoyed a special lesson with Mrs. Renee LeMire, our Art & Media Teacher, as she read the inspiring book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. 📖✨

Just like Vashti, the main character in the story, some of our students thought they couldn’t draw. But Mrs. LeMire reminded them that sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement, a willingness to try, and the courage to make your very own mark! 💚❤️💙

Through The Dot, our Terrapins learned an important lesson: Everyone is an artist in their own way, and it’s okay to start with just one little dot! 🎨

We love watching our Vienna Terrapins discover their creativity, believe in themselves, and learn new things ! 🌟

✨✨✨✨✨✨ National Instructional Coach Appreciation Day ✨✨✨✨✨✨

Mr. Shane Abbott, our dedicated math and reading coach at Vienna Elementary School, deserves recognition for his exceptional expertise and willingness to share his knowledge with colleagues. He equips teachers with the skills to create standard based lessons and assessments that prepare students for standardized tests. Furthermore, Mr. Abbott addresses instructional challenges with a proactive approach and conducts demonstration lessons that enhance teaching practices.

His support extends beyond academics; Mr. Abbott also volunteers his time in the cafeteria and office, demonstrating his commitment to our Terrapin school community. He actively listens and provides a comforting presence when we need to express our feelings. He demonstrates kindness and teamwork every day. Mr. Abbott is a proud and active member of the "HOUSE" of Amistad.

The survey takes approximately 2–3 minutes to complete and asks about your experience with your child's school, including school culture and climate, mental health support, and accessibility.

The survey is open through October 15, 2026.
Your feedback will help DCPS identify strengths, areas for improvement, and ways we can better support our school communities.

We hope your Vienna Terrapin has had a chance to sign up for the Good News Club!
The Good News Club began Thursday, October 1, 2026, and will meet every Thursday from 3:45–5:00 p.m. at Vienna Elementary School.

✨ There is still time to register! Registration forms are available in the Vienna Elementary School office.

The Good News Club is FREE and offers an exciting, fun-filled weekly Bible club where students can enjoy:

📖 Bible lessons
🎶 Songs
💭 Scripture memory
🎲 Games and activities
🤝 Making new friends
🍎 A snack

Good News Clubs emphasize respect for authority, moral values, and character development based on Biblical principles.

The club is sponsored by specially trained Christians in our community who care about the spiritual well-being of children. All club workers are screened according to Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Child Protection Policy requirements.

⭐ Students in grades 1–5 are invited to attend with parental permission, regardless of religious background.

✨👏🏻** National Custodians Day! **👏🏻✨

At Vienna Elementary School, we want to celebrate our incredible custodians: Head Custodian Mr. Chris Casado and 2nd Shift Custodian Mr. Jacob Whipple. They work diligently to keep our school clean, safe, and a welcoming environment.

Every day, they perform a variety of tasks, including cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and the cafeteria to ensure everything is spotless. In addition to cleaning, they handle minor repairs, restock supplies, manage waste disposal, and secure the building to maintain safety.

Mr. Casado and Mr. Whipple also assist with event setups, making sure everything is just right for our students and staff. They consistently go above and beyond for us, and we truly appreciate their efforts in making our school a great place to learn! ❤️💚💙 withJOY

Something exciting was happening at the Vienna Elementary School pickup line one afternoon… and our HOUSE mascots made a surprise appearance! 🎉

Our Vienna Terrapins were greeted by some very special visitors representing each of our three HOUSES:

❤️ AMISTAD — Mr. Shane Abbott brought the Peacock to life! 🦚
💚 ISIBINDI — Mrs. Joann Dechert proudly represented our Lion! 🦁
💙 RÊVEUR — Mrs. Michelle Frost made an appearance as our Wolf! 🐺

What a fun way to bring House spirit, smiles, and a little JOY to the pickup line! We love seeing our Vienna staff go all in for our Terrapins!

Our Vienna staff got a little “9 to 5” pick-me-up! 💚 The Vienna Parent Association (VPA) and our wonderful Mrs. Renee LeMire, media & art teacher, treated our staff to delicious bundt cakes and drinks!
What a sweet way to brighten our day and remind us just how much our Vienna family cares about our staff!
