May is Older Americans Month, focusing on taking an active role in your own well-being: staying connected, moving your body, eating well, and leaning on the people and programs in your community.
We see that kind of championing every single day at SCNOVA, thanks to our incredible volunteers and programs.
Every hour they give helps an older neighbor stay active, connected, and living life on their own terms.
Want to be part of the story? We're always looking for volunteers — especially this summer! Drivers, Friendly Callers, Handy Helpers, and more. Visit the link below to learn how you can help.

It was an honor to share our annual Volunteeer Appreciation Lunch with a few distinguished guests!
Vienna Mayor Linda Colbert for Mayor joined us to share her support and gratitude for our contributions to the community. We were also honored to receive a commending resolution from Delegate Holly Seibold and Delegate Karen Keys-Gamarra Karen Keys-Gamarra that honors our outstanding service to community.
Our lunch was also a wonderful way for our volunteers to spend time together and celebrate each other's accomplishments. Many of our volunteers have contributed 2, 3, or even 400 HOURS of service over the past year. Incredible!
We could not do this without them! Thank YOU!

Thank you, Delegate Holly Seibold! We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers who enrich the lives of older adults in our community in myriad ways, as friendly visitors and callers, by offering rides, or even handy help around the house. Our mission is made possible thanks to you!

Every week, our SCNOVA Walking Club laces up and heads out together 👟
There’s no set route—just a shared sense of adventure. From peaceful neighborhood paths to local parks, each walk is shaped by the group, with members taking turns choosing where to explore next. No two weeks follow the same path, but the connection is a constant.
For many, it’s about more than just getting steps in. It’s about fresh air, friendship, and having something to look forward to. As one participant put it, “I’ve discovered new places and new friends.”
This month, we’re celebrating one year of meaningful miles—made possible by SCNOVA volunteer Casey Tarr 🎉 Thank you, Casey, for helping create a space where community and connection thrive!
🗓️ The Walking Club meets every Tuesday, locations vary. Register for the Spring Session here:https://donorsnap.pulse.ly/dbwcq1fsa2

Our volunteers are the heart behind everything we do 💚
As we close out April (Volunteer Appreciation Month!), we’re celebrating the incredible people who make connection, companionship, and our community a priority.
We’re especially excited for our upcoming Annual Volunteer Lunch (4/28), where we’ll honor our dedicated volunteers, our Aging Forward National Volunteer Award recipient, and Town of Vienna volunteer honorees 🎉
Did you know? Volunteering doesn’t just make a difference for others—it’s powerful for you, too. Studies show it can reduce loneliness, boost life satisfaction, and strengthen social connections.
We’re so grateful for our volunteers—this month and every month. Want to be part of something meaningful? We’d love to have you join us!
