We couldnโt agree more! We also saw this video and made even more resolute in our endeavors!
On behalf of World Education Policy (WEP), this story is both heartbreaking and inspiring.
No child should have to risk their safety simply to access an education. Yet for millions of children around the world, distance, geography, inadequate infrastructure, and poverty continue to stand between them and their right to learn.
While we admire the determination, resilience, and courage of these young students, we must also recognize that their daily struggles highlight a much larger challengeโensuring equitable access to education for every child, everywhere.
Education is a fundamental human right. It should not depend on a childโs location, economic circumstances, or willingness to face danger just to reach a classroom.
At WEP, we believe that true educational equity requires more than schools. It requires safe access, supportive communities, effective policies, and a collective commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
These children inspire us with their determination. Let us honor that determination with action.
Every child deserves a safe path to education.

They have never known a time without AI. They have never struggled through a math problem alone. They have never sat with boredom long enough for an original thought to surface. The algorithm has been there since birth. Answering. Curating. Predicting.

The human brain learns through struggle. The hard math problem that takes 20 minutes is not a waste of time. It is a neural workout. The boredom that leads to building a fort out of couch cushions is not a gap to fill. It is where creativity is born. AI removes the struggle. No struggle means no growth.
Parents are not helpless here. You cannot block every AI tool. But you can create AI-free zones in your childโs life. No ChatGPT for homework. No algorithm-driven videos before dinner. No passive scrolling without conversation.
Teach your child to ask โwhyโ before they ask โwhat.โ What the AI gives them is information. Why it matters is still a human job. The child who learns to question the algorithm will never be ruled by it.
The world is changing faster than any generation in history. Your child does not need to be faster than AI. They need to be wiser than it. That wisdom starts with you. Turn off the suggestions. Resist the shortcuts. Let them struggle a little. Their future self will thank you.
At World Education Policy (WEP), we believe quality education must develop not only knowledge, but also critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and human judgment. Our mission remains clear: to eradicate all barriers to quality education for every individual, regardless of gender, creed, or circumstance.
Because the future belongs not to those who know the most answers, but to those who know how to ask the right questions.
With curious & creative anticipation,

This is a great and easy policy to do in order to promote and encourage more reading and comprehension.
Making it easier for students to access the resources at the public libraries.
Libraries transform. ๐
All students in Chicagoโs public schools can now use their school ID cards as library cards, granting them access to millions of books and digital resources across the cityโs library system.
City officials announced Tuesday that Chicago Public Library and Chicago Public Schools have expanded โThe 81 Club,โ a program that automatically connects students to library services without requiring applications or additional paperwork.

What can the world learn from Finland?
Finland has consistently demonstrated that educational excellence is achieved through equity, trust, and investment in people.
Its education system is built on the belief that every child deserves access to high-quality learning regardless of background, geography, or socioeconomic status. Rather than relying heavily on standardized testing, Finland focuses on student well-being, teacher professionalism, creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Teachers are highly respected and highly trained, with advanced university qualifications and the autonomy to meet the needs of their learners.
Finland reminds us that when education systems prioritize inclusion, support, and opportunity, entire nations benefit.
๐ Key Lesson:
When every learner is supported, every nation becomes stronger.
Through the WEP Policies Series, we continue exploring successful education models from around the world to inspire dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in building stronger educational systems for future generations.

๐ WORLD OCEAN DAY 2026 ๐
Today, we celebrate the oceans that sustain life on Earth and connect us all.
Covering more than 70% of our planet, oceans produce much of the oxygen we breathe, regulate our climate, support biodiversity, and provide livelihoods for billions of people around the world.
Yet the future of our oceans depends on the choices we make today.
At World Education Policy (WEP), we believe education is one of the most powerful tools for environmental stewardship. By educating future generations about sustainability, conservation, innovation, and global responsibility, we can inspire meaningful action that protects our oceans and our planet.
This World Ocean Day, let us renew our commitment to:
๐ Revitalize our oceans
๐ก๏ธ Protect marine ecosystems
๐ค Connect communities through education and sustainable action
Together, we can build a future where healthy oceans support thriving people, prosperous economies, and a sustainable planet for generations to come.
Our Ocean. Our Future. Our Responsibility.

We agree! Stay curious! Ask the why?
โWhat is really important is to say curious. What I see is that you can be very, very smart, but if you're not curious, then that intelligence and that innate ability that you have is not going to get channelled.โ
- chemistry laureate Moungi Bawendiโs advice to students and aspiring scientists.
He believes that curiosity can help people overcome any gaps they have in their education or experience, because they will learn what they need.
Bawendi shared the 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Louis Brus and Aleksey Yekimov โfor the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.โ
Watch him talk about the qualities that make a great scientist, as well as the importance of learning to cope with exam pressure: https://youtu.be/nDPOUfx2zz4
