A fire alarm should trigger action—not a group discussion about whether the alarm is real.
Employees, visitors and contractors should understand where to exit, where to assemble, who conducts accountability and who communicates with emergency responders.
When an alarm activates:
• Leave immediately using the nearest safe exit
• Do not stop for personal belongings
• Use the stairs instead of the elevator
• Report to the designated assembly area
• Stay clear of emergency access routes
• Do not reenter until authorized
A written emergency plan is valuable, but its effectiveness depends on people understanding and following it.
Treat every alarm like it’s real.
