Toombs County Family Connection Toombs Family Connection is a collaborative that works to develop strategic plans that set goals and measures their improvement over time.

In Toombs County, Family Connection partners with over 50 organizations, working together to address 3rd grade reading proficiency, teen pregnancy, and teen drug use. Our goal is to focus on children being healthy, ready for school and succeed in school, as well as helping families to become more self-sufficient. We service the community through Georgia KIDS COUNT, 21st Century After School Program,Backpack Buddies and Parent Support Group Meetings each month. Paige Williamson: Director

Throwback to September 1st at Lyons Upper Elementary School….

Toombs County Schools’ 21st Century Parent Orientation was well attended. Rhonda Benton, Family Engagement Coordinator for Toombs County Schools, spoke to parents about the importance of attendance! Vidalia Rotary Club members volunteered to read to students in the gym while parents learned about the after school program and met the staff. Terika Williams, Community Engagement Coordinator with Share Health Southeast Georgia set up a booth and talked with families about resources. We are so grateful to all of our partners and we’re looking forward to an amazing year of after school!

A Special Thank You to Vidalia’s Citizens of Georgia Power! 💙
We are incredibly grateful to this special group for making our new Kids Corner at the Safe Kids of Toombs/Toombs Family Connection office possible through a generous Legacy Project Grant!

Our Kids Corner was created with the needs of local families in mind. It provides a safe, welcoming space for children while their parents participate in important programs and services. Whether a child is waiting while a parent is being trained on car seat safety or spending time with their family during our monthly Kinship Care meetings, they now have a special place to play, explore, and simply be a kid. ❤️
The Kids Corner includes:
🎮 PlayStation
📚 Books
🧩 Puzzles
🧱 LEGOs
🫘 Comfortable beanbags
…and plenty of opportunities for imagination and fun!
These may seem like simple things, but they make a big difference for families who visit our office. Creating a child-friendly environment helps parents focus on the resources, education, and support they need while knowing their children are comfortable and engaged nearby.
We are VERY grateful to the Vidalia-area Citizens of Georgia Power for investing in our children and our families! Your generosity has helped us turn a corner of our office into a space filled with fun, comfort, and possibility. 💙
