🍎Teacher Tuesday🍏

Every Tuesday, we're shining the spotlight on one of our awesome JDD teachers!🌟We want our JDD families and community to get to know the amazing people who make our school such a special place. This week our spotlight is on Mrs. Haley Clements. Thank you, Mrs. Clements, for your positive impact on the students of JDD!🏹

🦸Capes, comics, kindness, and pizza! We had a wonderful night at Pages & Possibilities practicing our reading superpowers: Read • Talk • Ask • Listen! Kids listened to superhero stories, created comic endings, drew their kindness superpowers, and enjoyed prizes! ❤️💛

Families, try it at home: Pick a book, picture, or moment from your day. Ask, “What happened?” or “What do you think and why?” Listen, then choose one word to explain and use together!

🏹 Built for More Monday | STEM Style

Great learning starts with educators who keep learning, too!

Three of our educators recently represented Vidalia City Schools at the 2026 Georgia STEM/STEAM Forum, hosted by the Georgia Department of Education at the Classic Center in Athens on October 1–2:

👏 Emily Powell — STEM Instructor at JDD & SDM
👏 Rhett Carter — STEM Instructor at JRT
👏 Elissa Blount — Science Instructor at VHS

During the two-day forum, they explored STEM/STEAM teaching practices, connected with educators and community partners, and gathered ideas to strengthen classroom learning and student career readiness.

We’re proud of their commitment to bringing new ideas back to our classrooms—helping students think critically, solve problems, innovate, and connect their learning to future careers.

🌟 Learn. Connect. Innovate. Inspire.

Vidalia City Schools students will be out of school October 12–16 for Fall Break.

Teachers will hold conferences on Monday, October 12 and Wednesday, October 14. Students will return on Monday, October 19.

Fall Break is a great opportunity to rest, relax, refuel, or enjoy a short family trip. As we work together to improve attendance across our district, we encourage families to plan travel during scheduled school breaks whenever possible so students do not miss valuable instructional time.

Enjoy your break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to learn!

🏹Thankful Thursday🏹

What a sweet Lunch on the Lawn this week!🥰 A great time was had with Miss Haynes and Miss Sanders’ classes. Having families join us in the cafeteria truly made the lunch time special. We cherish these moments together and are so grateful for everyone who is part of our school community!
