Today, we had the pleasure of promoting Cadet Marleigh Meldrim to the rank of Master Sergeant! Marleigh is a transfer from an Air Force JROTC program, and she has already made a tremendous impact on our program. From the moment she joined us, she has stepped up, worked hard, and proven herself to be a true team member—especially on our Raider Team!

We are proud to have Marleigh as part of our JROTC family and look forward to watching her continue to grow as a leader. Congratulations, Master Sergeant Meldrim! We are excited to see all that you will accomplish.

Before heading into fall break, Toombs County High School Automotive students had some fun while building important life skills! Students put their money-management and critical-thinking skills to work while playing Monopoly, making decisions, managing finances, and learning how choices can impact their success. Mrs. Betsy Avellaneda offered students a fun way to learn valuable skills that extend far beyond the classroom!

Reis James spoke with our Automotive and Energy students about exciting career opportunities with the local Iron Workers Union. Students learned how they can begin a career right after high school through a paid apprenticeship, earning a paycheck while gaining hands-on training and valuable skills.
From bridges and buildings to other major structures, ironworkers play an important role in building the infrastructure that keeps our communities moving. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about a career pathway that combines training, experience, and earning a living from day one!

Cosmetology students in Mrs. Amelia Moore’s class made presentations on what it takes to build a strong professional image.

Maliyah Vann (Vidalia High School) talked about the importance of personal hygiene and keeping a clean, polished appearance.

Kamryn Brinson (Toombs County High School) highlighted nonverbal communication and walked the class through a real-life example of how body language speaks volumes.

Layla Williams (Toombs County High School) discussed soft skills and why interpersonal traits like active listening, communication, and teamwork matter so much.

Ni Onna Holland (Toombs County High School) summarized professional image, adding the consequences of negative habits.

While each student focused on how these habits apply to the beauty industry, they all agreed that good hygiene, positive body language, and strong soft skills are essential tools for everyday life and any career path!
